Hi! DP-shrine-in-closet-girl (A.K.A. Shrine) here!

I spend most of my time writing, watching whatever TV show or movie I'm into at the time, and going to college. I always have a new interest that I'm writing about, but I'm forever obsessed with Danny Phantom. (Its a healthy obsession, I swear!)

I'm working on my B.A. in Psychology, and then it's off to grad school. I aim to be a clinical psychologist in private practice or an in-patient facility. This probably feeds into the fact I love CHARACTERS. I love understanding a person's personality and figuring out why they act the way they do. So you will see a lot of in-depth character exploration in my fics. This also means, however, I can't stand it when something is out of character.

I love talking to people, so if you ever want to e-mail me about anything please feel free. I love getting to know people on here that I may never get to meet face to face.

Spelling

I CAN’T SPELL. I never could. Every thing that I type gets spell checked on Word before anyone else reads it. I bring this up, because as we all know Word is not perfect and there may still be a mistake in anything I write. So, this is just a word of warning. Penname

People always ask me when they look at my screen name, DP-shrine-in-closet-girl, do you really have a Danny Phantom shrine in your closet? The answer is-yes. Yes I do. Now, don’t worry, it’s not something really creepy like Danny’s face made up of chewed bubble gum (Love Hey Arnold) or anything like that. It is a bunch of pictures and little trinkets that I have picked up with Danny’s face or logo on it. And trust me, I have a lot of DP stuff. Also, if you ever say hi to me go ahead and call me 'Shrine' if you want, since my penname is kinda long.

I have a lot of character and plot ideas so if you ever want to borrow any just ask me. Usually I’m pretty generous. I just want to keep track of who is using my ideas and I’m curious to see what people write using them. So, the other thing I ask is that you tell me what story you are using the idea in so I can read it!

Reviews

Like most people, I love getting reviews and the more reviews I get the more encouraged I am to write. Now, I will continue to write even if I don’t get any reviews but it won’t be as fast. This isn’t to say that I don’t want any criticism, because I do! Any constructive criticism is welcomed and I actually prefer that to the normal, ‘Great story.’

For those of you who know me, you probably know about my reviews. I'm known for leaving really long, or really detailed reviews. For my favorite favorite fics I'll leave paragraphs and paragraphs. (Although it also depends on the length of the chapter and how much content I have to write about) I've even filled up the character count limit before. Yeah... I get carried away.

So, if I truly love someone's story, you will see more then a 'update soon' from me.

GOOD Animated movies is what I live for, honestly. I adore Disney, Pixar, and sometimes Dreamworks. I've been less impressed with some of Dreamworks animated films (although, Megamind, HTYD, and Shrek made me a fan)

Bluesky studios is pretty good too. Their most famous one being Ice Age, and so far they haven't made a 'bad' movie in my opinion. Just nothing quite as impressive as their first.

Illumination Entertainment- watch out for these guys, they might start making some pretty impressive movies in the next few years. Who knows, we may be looking at the next Pixar! xD

Pairings

I am somewhat picky about pairings in shows. Usually I stay loyal to the pairings that are cannon, but not always. And I just can't stand boring pairings, they have to be fun and interesting to think about. I love pairings that have people who are completely opposite. I firmly believe that opposites attract. These aren’t all my pairings, but they are the ones I am most picky about.

My Stories:

I try to only work on one story at a time, but as you can see, that's not working for me. But I'm am determined to finish my stories. It's just hard to find time to work on them. So thanks for your patients!

Fukai Mori: Deep Forest-Vlad has a few new tricks up his sleeve and gets the Teen Titans to capture InvisoBill for him, but what happens when they finally meet? cross over. (update: this one probably wont ever be done. I'm sorry.)

A Perfect World Begins and Ends with Us- Short stories about the new and improved Emperor and his relationship with his kingdom and his favorite peasant family. Ruling a kingdom is a lot harder with a conscience… (The Emperor's New Groove)

Misery Loves Company or Best Enemies- A year since Zim learned the truth and was abandoned on earth. Everything has changed, and yet, nothing at all. A truce has been established, but that doesn’t mean they have to like it, besides, they had always been better enemies then friends. ZADF

Advice for New Story Writers

Just little tips for people new at writing stories. I know fanfiction is just for fun, but it helps to have some level of professionalism in your work.

Don't put, 'I suck at summaries' in your summery, or anything to the like. I always skip over stories that have that. After all, if you can't write a summery and have confidence in it, then how can you write a story? Be proud of your work; confidence attracts readers.

Don't interject you're own comments during the story. Don't add in the middle of a paragraph in parenthesis: 'Idk I couldn't think of anything better', or 'this is my favorite part'. You can add an authors note in the beginning and/or end. That's the perfect time to talk about your story.

Don't apologize for what you have written. If people don't like it, then you don't need to make excuses like, 'I was tired when I wrote this'. As long as you liked it, or enjoyed writing it then that's the most important part. If you don't like it, then this is the perfect opportunity to change it, or leave it up for people that will like it. Part of writing fanfiction is practice. We all had to start somewhere.

Grammar is also important for new writers. You're story doesn't have to be flawless, but check out how everyone else structures their dialogue and paragraphs. Making things as readable as possible will keep people interested in your story.

I hope this didn't sound too preachy or anything. It's true that some of these are pet peeves of mine, and this was a kind of a rant... but just small things like this can improve your story and attract readers that might otherwise miss a wonderful story.
