Author has written 8 stories for Forever Knight, and Harry Potter. Hi Nightmouse here. That really wasn't supposed to be my writing handle and I'm in search of a better one, so feel free to send suggestions. The handle I've been writing under in the FOREVER KNIGHT world is Vampiremouse and thats the penname I tried for on fanfiction.net unfortunately it was taken (although I couldn't find any activity on the site from anyone using that name)...I could deal with losing my penname to an actual contributor but to a ghost :(((( Anyway I'm in search of a better penname especially as I've started moving into writing HARRY POTTER fanfic as well. I'm looking for a name that could be either humorous or serious because my writing will go back and forth between very quickly written humor pieces like the MOUSEPIRE series and serious stories written over a wide variety of time frames. Me as a writer: Sometimes I set up deliberate frameworks for my writing, a strict time limit to liberate a scene from the archives in my skull, flesh it out and share it with the world. The problem with these types of stories is while they are great for just de-stressing and feeding the writing bug they aren't at the caliber of writing I am truely capable of. Other times I make exhaustive charts, notebooks, and outlines of every complexity in a story before I even sit down to write. The problem with the long, perfectly planned stories is that I tended to be such a perfectionist with them that no one ever sees them With the advent of fan fiction.net I have a third alternative...I can shoot a chapter out within the guidelines (I have set myself for a particular story) and I can REVISE it. I can even add prequal chapters or shift the existing writing around to my heart's content. Between Worlds, based in the Marauders Era in the Harry Potter series, is the first story I am writing using this new method, and so far it is working out very well. I regularly go back, fixing typos, less then ideal phrasing, and fleshing out the story as it goes along. Chapters sometimes get renamed, rewritten completely, or moved but hopefully each change is an improvement to the overall quality of the story. I'm not shy about going backwards and adding chapters before my current writing point while revising my way right back up to where the story left off. I had an outline for all seven years of hogwarts and beyond and that storyline is still intact but now there is a lot more backstory and it just keeps growing. Each new character serves a purpose in the story and gets a profile page in my notebook. Once they have a profile page the character or story element is penciled into the timeline of the plot. The one thing I'm afraid of is revising away something really good...so if you like it let me know or it might be gone. And if you see hate something the fastest way to get me to to fix it...is to tell me :) My stories Price of a Legacy: My first serious story, based in the Forever Knight. This is an introspection story from Nick's perspective A note about the MOUSEPIRE SERIES: They are parodies and fun rather then serious writing. The entire goal with a mousepire story is to think up a funny scene, hammer out a story in one sitting, play with the spacing a bit, run a quick spellcheck, ask the hubby if he has a minute to glance at it, and hit post. Only one of the chapters has ever been formally beta read and it will probably stay that way. The mouse (who was inspired by my avatar) has the mentality of a very small child and her speach reflects this. Carefully designed spacing and punctuation are critical in these stories. Unfortunately fanfiction.net is currently being difficult about displaying some of them EXACTLY the way they look in my original files/on the input screen. I've run into a few similar issues with the my HARRY POTTER story BETWEEN WORLDS but spacing just isn;t as critical there. Whenever I have some time to figure out the problem and can actually get it solved the mousepire series will resume. In the Harry Potter world. I absolutely love the Marauders Era so I set out to write a serious fic in that setting. BETWEEN WORLDS This is my first Harry Potter fanfiction and the writing concept I am using is just get it up and posted even if it isn't perfect and the revise along the way. Is a serious examination of several concepts 1. As the title implies, how a number of different charactors exist between worlds. For Lily Evans it is the muggle and magical worlds she is between. For Sirus Black it is his very slytherin upbringing and his gryffindor heart. For James Potter it is the good and bad in his very nature, the troublemaking prat and the loyal leader within him. For Severus Snape it is his inclination toward darkness amd the spark of good within. For Remus Lupin there is the werewolf and the boy. For Peter Pettigrew it is between loyalty and betrayal. For the original character, Grace Remington, her worlds are vampire and wizarding (based much more on the vampire entry in J.K. Rowlings background material and completely original concepts then anything in Forever Knight...sorry FK fans this is not a crossover.) The worlds of Hagrid and Filch should be obvious giant and man for Hagrid with disenfranchized and magically educated applying to both. I'm guessing you get the concept at this point. 2. The second thing to explore is how and why each of these people came to the actions we know to have occured in canon. Why did Peter belong in Gryphindor? How could Sirius betray his best friend in the prank let along contemplate Snape's murder or were those his intentions at all.? If saving Snape's life after that incident isn't the point at which James Potter finally grew up and earned Lily's love when did these things occur? Was there another point in which James saved Snape's life? What finally brought James and Lily together? How did the Marauders learn Remus's secret, how and when did Lily? Who were Lily's roommates and did any of them hold secrets of thier own? Was Remus really the only "unusual" student at Hogwarts? Remus was the first werewolf at Hogwarts but does that really mean he was the only child with a secret or just a difference from the norm? Some differences are as supposedly ordinary, as being the first member of the Black family in Gryphindor...others may be a bit more unusual. Dumbledore sent out more customized invitations then the one that went to our favorite werewolf , so far he also invited a Dhampir (Vampires may still be considered inelligible for a wand, but a half-vampire is in the same catagory as a werewolf according to wizarding law.) How many more of his invitations were accepted? You help decide, if you come up with a good "Halfling" to add to the mix they will make a background apperance. However no halfing other then Grace is currently designated to play a major role in the story...and thats only cause I had to make something just as "interesting" occur on the girl's side as the boys. Ah the things both halves of Gryphindor may eventually discover, the mysteries to solve, the secrets to keep. Yep its going to be a wild ride. 000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 ABOUT ME Stuff I like: I like cheese a lot, hense the mouse thing. A friend gave me the mouse nickname years ago and it stuck. I could wax poetic on the ...err...'darn' stuff, but I try to let the mousepire do it for me ;) My musical tastes: are all over the map. Just a few examples Nightwish, Anna Nalick, Green Day, Belinda Carlisle, Reo Speedwagon, Nirvana, Will Smith...and thats just what I have "on-deck" right now. Chances are I like at least a few songs that you do, no matter what your tastes. I love time travel, alternate histories, alternate universes, what if scenarios, travel between dimensions. I'm real picky with these in Harry Potter fanfic probably since so many of them seem to lead to dreadfully contrived or kinda pedephilic romances but thats my viewpoint and I still like the general concept. Time travel and related phenominon can be turned into absolutely horrible movies/books/fanfics or they can often be the very best. I like episodoes of tv shows that mix things up even if "it is all a dream". Chances are if there is a movie or book involving good excecutions or interesting takes on any of these concepts, I probably own a copy of it or eventually will ;) I also enjoy studying up on real history, various types of science, animals, medicine, archeology, comparitive mythology...whatever happens to catch my fancy. I believe behind every myth or legend there may be a grain of often misinterpreted truth. I do not believe everything I see, hear or read but I keep an open mind and consider many things neither true nor false until I have more data. I enjoy stories about tarnished heros because I believe in redemption and I like happy endings but I don't wear "rose-colored glasses". I enjoy reading and writing about werewolves and vampires and ghosts and other "supernatural" things, preferably when they are something other then one-dimensional movie monsters. Although most of the popular conceptions of such things are probably far removed from whatever truth there, may or may not be, to any of these legends...I still enjoy speculating and trying to fit them into the rules of real and fictional worlds. What can I say, I like pseudoscience about as much as star trek likes its closely related cousin technobabble. ;) I also like Dragons, Unicorns, Pegasus, Merfolk, Big Foot, etc. My reasons and approach are similar to the previous entree. Could be a dinosaur, a doctored horse, another doctored horse, a manatee, and a type of ape, could be glimpses into another plain of existance...I haven't seen any of them. Until and unless I actually witness something, they are cool legends that people at least sure used to believe in and they have contributed to some of my favorite fictional worlds. Aliens: it would be incredibly arrogant to think we are the only life in the entire universe. However that doesn't mean they abduct humans every other tuesday, do constant flybys, make crop circles, drive comets to pick us up...you get the idea. If they are out there, which they probably are somewhere, they may be a thousand years behind us in development and no where near visiting, or the crumbling ruins we will eventually find among the stars. Among all the hoaxes, overblown imaginations, and possible coverups...I think I'll stick to playing with fiction and pseudoscience again. Star Trek and many other very interesting space based series are out there with interesting casts of aliens to play with. What fun speculation, what interesting opportunities to explore differences, simularities and of course cool powers. I an facinated by real world animals as well as the fictional and have owned several pets over the course of my life. Right now I have a cat and a fictional mouse. I also have a wonderful husband, and other family I am very close to. I enjoy travel and seeing new places, having new experiances. I like sports, preferably participating rather then watching I like both the indoors and the outdoors The past and the future. The current world, well it has its moments ;) I enjoy video and computer games, just as much as I enjoy running on the beach or reading a good book I am a well-balenced study in contradictions, that has so many diverse aspects to her personality that few people ever see all of it. I guess I'm resolved to being whatever the person in front of me wants me to be...and saving the rest for the next person who comes along ;). I believe in hope and second chances, nature and nurture, faith and science, evolution and creationism, the sanctity of all life and the right for another human being to choose differently, limited eugenics and absolute freedom, exceptions and rules, creativity and logic, order and chaos, good and evil. These things are pairs not opposities, they go together "hand-in-hand" because any situation can be seen in "shades of grey". Stuff I Hate: Predjudice, patronization, deliberate cruelity, harming the helpless, traffic jams, cilantro, standing in lines, and making mistakes 000000000000000000000000 What else would you like to know about me? 00000000000000000000000000000000 For now Vampiremouse aka Nightmouse Signing off and wishing you all productive writing and enjoyable reading experiances | |||||||
