Normally, I live a rich fantasy life inside my head, but if you must...
~~ Author Bio Blurb ~~
In real life I am a flunkie at a 9–5 copy editing job with part-time duties fulfilling administrivia detail. The money I make fuels my passion for all things comic book, video game, and food. In my spare time I draw, play Tetris, go to work, and write.
I grew up on Lloyd Alexander and Terry Pratchett books and watching cheesy Asian kung-fu flicks, and my heart has always belonged to the realm of action-adventure and epic fantasy. I make time for brief affairs with sci-fi and reality, however, although I have a strong inclination towards surreal fiction and Theater of the Absurd, and currently, I am (very slooowly) reading Lao Tze’s Tao Te Jing.
As point of reference, some of my other favorite authors (not already mentioned above) include: Marilynne Robinson, John McPhee, Tom Wolfe, John Steinbeck, Weis & Hickman, Robert Aspirin, George MacDonald, Doris Lessing, Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, and Tom Stoppard.
Oh, and I absolutely hate Harry Potter. Terrible writing.
Feedback, plot holes, and miscellaneous concerns about my work are all extremely welcome and will probably earn you scathing praise in return. (Was that a contradiction?) I live in dire fear of plot holes, so any feedback would help. Nothing like frightening the author with the reality of an audience to get that pen arm working again.
I also answer my e-mail and welcome editing challenges where they may come. Summer season is best for getting feedback, otherwise, I can be kinda slow. If you happen to just drop by and want my comments, please send a note of inquiry!
~~~~~~~In the Works~~~~~~~
A Dream of Blood and Snow—Dreaming Snow has fallen to Sun Li, but at the heart of Dirge is an evil whose defeat can restore her to life. The path of demons, gods, and men collide in an epic story that has grown way too large for it’s own good. Story stars female PC in a world where she chose the CF ending, but with a twist. An Elseworld story leading to the final fight in Dirge. Status: 7/14/08 — I’m still writing, but really busy with stuff for school right now, and probably won’t get seriously back into this project until that’s done with
“Flowers”—Working title. A Jade Empire fanfic about the Mad inventor Kang, a peaceful/hateful herbologist (not a real word), and a story a hundred years in the making. This was supposed to be for a one week fiction challenge, but I gave myself two options and this is the one on the backburner. Indefinitely.
“Don’t Finish Your Sentences If You’re Paranoid!”—Revan’s potty-mouthed, bad-mannered, noodle-legged adventures continue with this follow-up tale. This time in Taris! (Yeah, that was a big surprise there…) Status: New update posted 1/15/2007. No plans to work on further chapters for awhile. Next update might be a series of “journal entries” from The Mighty Adventures of Revan Velis (TM).
“Silent Words for Tomorrow”—A different take on the standard KotOR fluffy romance. I have the first half written, but now I’m just stymied. Romance isn’t really my thing, and I don’t even like the Revan/Whoever pairing! I think I'm gonna kill them both...
~~~~~~~Complete~~~~~~~
“Scars”—A Black Whirlwind one-shot written for JDCorley’s “Fanfic of the Week” challenge. Read more about it on the Jade Empire Fan Forum.
“Chiasmus”—My attempt at an angsty Carth/Revan romance fic. I am not a fan of them having a happy ending and it shows, but I figure that even if you think this story sucks, you can probably at least learn one new vocab word from reading the fic.
“Just Another Crazy Beginning”—Stories don't always start where you think they do. A humorous Knights of the Old Republic (KotOR) one-shot. I get the dubious honor of submitting Star Wars: KOTOR fanfic #666.
“The Last Wait”—Not a lot of people get this, but it's actually a DSM!Revan/DS!Bastila piece centered around Bastila's mother, Helena, being murdered at the hands of her daughter. Just one of those loose ends every Sith needs to tie up before going on to conquer the galaxy.
“From Autumn Into Fall”—Wu the Lotus Blossom has saved the Empire, set Sun Lian on the throne, and restored the balance of the Great Wheel. Yet a struggle within her heart drives her deeper and deeper into the fires of conflict, and even those she loves most may not be able to pull her back when she falls too far. Short drabble. Premise is based on a similar sequence from Jet Li’s movie Fearless.

Oh, and because it's fashionable (and more or less polite) to point out that fanfiction writers don't own the intellectual property on the interesting licensed characters they're taking licenses with, I don't own the intellectual property on the characters of anything that I'm taking licenses with. But I'd happily donate everything I write to Bioware and whoever cares to use it, free of charge and lawsuits. If you're reading this: Yes, that means I just declared myself totally cribable, because I did just donate everything into the public domain. And if someone out there actually wants to crib what I've written, why, I'm so flattered... thank you, thank you.
