ABOUT
"When He Comes II: Lethe (Working Title)"
To address everyone who has been asking about the sequel to the beloved When He Comes, know that it is coming in the near future. I apologize for the delay, but things have come up and the idea of continuing a project like WHC is daunting, to say the least. The first story had a lot of original content, and keeping continuity is hard enough with one story, but keeping the facts straight while at the same time pretending they didn't happen makes things a lot more confusing (which is what happens in the sequel). Introducing "post-Jason Raven" is my main problem: right now, I have maybe nine possible "Chapter One"s, and each is different and can lead a different way. There will be "new" characters (Hint: Michael) and distractions, and more team-oriented problems as well. Altogether, it's just more to plan! The delay is completely my fault, but I just don't want WHC II: Lethe to disappoint!

PAIRINGS

I read and write certain pairings, and am criticized for the ones I use; I figure I should go over them. Main examples are under each category; italicized pairings are the ones I'd write (as opposed to just read).

Guys with Girls.
Not my favorite kind of pairing, to say the least. The explanation for 'Why?' would be extensive and boring, but in short, I hate how girls are always characterized when they're dating someone. Why can't a girl be down-to-earth and like a guy at the same time? Go figure.
The only girls I'd write about are Raven and, on the odd possibility that I can think of a Kid Flash-oriented plot, Jinx. That's it.

Ron x Hermione (as a side-pairing)

Guys with Guys.
Ah, now we're getting into things I favor. So many people are against slash pairings in general, unable to see why it's such an appealing thing to write. If you get over the reined-in Catholic morality of life and open your mind to it, slash actually grants a writer more options and ways to be creative. (Not that I’m against Catholics, or anything… but most people who’ve PMed me just to shove their beliefs at me are rigidly Catholic.)
As for why I choose guys? Well, they're awesome in general, and with the conflicts and angst resulting in falling in love with another guy, they're even more fun to torture. As for changing a character I'll make a guy more effeminate, but not to the extent where he becomes girly—that’s how it is, no matter what fandom. My men can take care of themselves.

Girls with Girls.
Ah, yuri. I'm not against it, and if I find a good pairing I'll read it. But as it stands, there are so few female characters in any fandom, and they all seemed to be paired up with a guy. There aren't an abundance of girls running around single, unlike the bachelors of the universe. (It's mostly because triangles involve two guys and a girl, I'm convinced.)
I've tried writing it... but it just doesn't work. I couldn't get the guys out of the picture in a believable way.
None... yet.

Good with Evil.
Doesn't everyone like good and evil getting together? It's the old "Will the person change their ways for love?" dilemma, and I love how no author interprets it the same way, no matter what genders get together. So many options, so many lives to tear apart. Opposites collide and a fanfiction is made. What's more to say?

I don't mean 'infant' with 'ancient' here. I mean, a teenager with someone in their 20's, 30's, or 40's. I'm usually good with it, depending on the fandom. Like, Snape and Hermione are not going to get together under normal circumstances. I'm sorry, it just won't work without a major epiphany... which can happen with just a few extra chapters. Yay, writers playing god!

Sibling with Sibling.
Incest, incest, incest. It's the forbidden love that's worse than any sin, and it's a perfect match for making things depressingly angst-filled. Make it slash and it's even better.
Although, I can't think of any fandoms with two sisters that can 'easily' get together... and only one or two pairs of brothers that could. Hm...

Canons with OCs
Though it depends on how cliché the OC is (and if they're supposedly related to another canon), I usually tolerate them. Then again, love triangles should occur if the canon was previously in a 'relationship' of some kind.
I use OCs a lot, thinking back on it. Not that I’m claiming to be a genius on using them or anything, but I think I write them fairly well. And they don’t become psychotic, nor are they Slade’s apprentices. (Go Jason!)

Canons with… No One?!
Shockingly, characters can make it through a multi-chapter fanfiction without falling in love and/or having their heart broken! Just because a story doesn’t have romance and fluff at every turn, that doesn’t mean it’s bad. It just means that… well, it doesn’t have romance and fluff. This also covers the “Just because a love triangle can form, it doesn’t mean it should, or will!” rule.

In conclusion (heh), unless you screw a character over in terms of personality without drug-induced change, I’m fine with most things. I’ll never say “You’re pairing sucks!” because, honestly, it’s all opinion, but I will say that you’re taking people out-of-character to reach it. And if I just can’t imagine it happening, I won’t read it. Voila, problem solved!
