Author has written 18 stories for Harry Potter, Good Omens, and Misc. Books. Name: Russet Appearance: Well, that depends on which world my muse is inhabiting at the time. Speaking of worlds, my current favorites are Rowling's Harry Potter, Terry Pratchett's Discworld, Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising sequence, Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia, and Tamora Pierce's...well, anything by Tamora Pierce. I am not averse to the movie versions of any of the above (where they have been made), except for the aptly renamed Seeker: Dark is Rising, which is good for a laugh, like Eragon. I also enjoy the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Jane Austen adaptations, and the Phantom of the Opera, both the movie and the musical. My favorite books, quite separate from my favorite worlds in that I have never developed stories for them, are Robin McKinley's Spindle's End and Charles de Lint's Wolf Moon. Please don't expect too many long fics from me, I have this horrible habit of planning out sweeping plot lines and intricate character development, but failing abysmally to put the vision to paper. This stems mostly from my hatred of writing large amounts of dialogue. I'm a poet at heart, flowing prose, internal monologues, and lots of angst make me happy (strangely enough). Besides, the conversations in my head never sound the same when I try to describe facial expressions and outside distractions (not to mention the "he said, she said") that interrupts what I view as a movie. Enough of the excuses. I tend to have just enough of an attention span to complete the one-shots and songfics that grab hold of my imagination and won't let go. My muse has, for the past several years, focused on characterizing Remus Lupin and fully developing an OC to love him. She was once a paltry and second-hand Mary Sue, but far more years of daydreaming in class than I am willing to count have been devoted to turning Tilia Manoran into a real character and not a reflection of who I am with super-powers. She's more a cross between what I wish I could be, and some rather bizzare dreams that yielded surprisingly good ideas. I took the liberty of running with the idea of the PotterPuffs (first drawn by Naomi on livejournal, the idea is hers not mine) and my icon is a PotterPuff rendition of Remus and Tilia. Now that you've been introduced to my rather unhealthy obsession with one particular werewolf (admitting it is the first step to recovery, right?), on to the stories. I'll read anything with Remus in it (this is not always a good thing), and I have only posted stories to this general theme. Four (Portrait, Gambling, Moonless Nights, Starlit Hope) feature different morphs of Remus' relationship with Tilia. Touching Lyrics, my one concession to the popular pairing of Remus/Sirius will be finished eventually. I'm having a hard time writing a happy ending for a relationship I believe is basically unhealthy for both characters. I have also written a few canon fics (Dead End, Ghosts, Justified, The Truth of the Matter, Serenade, Where is your Heart) that reflect canon events, or canon characters' observations of the situations they find themselves in thanks to Rowling. My Sirius Black fics (Waiting to Grow, Much Ado about Sirius and other Distractions, Angel of Snow) were posted as gifts to my sister. Ineffable is a Harry Potter/Good Omens crossover born of a "What If..." Prisoner of Azkaban from Remus' Point of View, however imaginatively titled, is on permanent hiatus. No matter how many people place it on their alert list, it will not be updated. It was my first foray into fanfiction, and my writing style has changed a lot, as has my perception of the character. I will, however, leave it posted, because I hate to find that a story I really like, unfinished though it may be, has disappeared. Bound by Moonlight is my longest fanfic, and it has taken me over a year to complete it. It is Remus and Tilia's full story, as seen by Harry when he falls into their Pensieve. I kept this particular story as close to canon as I could...this means that canon events, like Sirius' fall in OotP, happen, though in many of my story lines, such deaths do not. This was intended as an answer to the question "Who is Tilia Manoran?" and I'm pretty sure I've done a decent job of achieving that goal. I'm very proud of the fact that I have actually managed to finish so long a fic. That said, even though it is already complete, I will (apparently, as I have been unable to stick to a schedule) post sporadically as the whim takes me because my personal discipline levels are very low at the moment. I don't want to post it all at once because I want to be selfish and savour the feeling of being able to see the chapter list slowly grow. Thank you for your patience...and please don't be afraid of the chapter count--I reiterate: it is finished and will not go on hiatus. Memory is a strange little oneshot for Charles Williams' Descent into Hell. It was a strange, haunting kind of book and I wanted to play just a little with my thoughts on it. This story is the result and, as I'm rather fond of it, I've posted it in case anyone was interested. Thank you for reading this rambling profile. It has probably given you far more insight into who I am than I intended (I do tend to randomly go off on tangents in conversation). I hope that, if you have chosen to read my stories, you will enjoy reading them as much as I have enjoyed writing them. | |||||
