'In the end, I don't like pairings that are sunshine and daisies and everything lovely and nice. I don't think they're realistic, I don't think they're interesting and I don't think they work. I like a little meat and conflict and argumentativeness in my pairings; it keeps things fresh and all the more believable. But that isn't always, unfortunately, how mangaka work.

A lot of shonen series feature very strong-headed, brash male characters and imo they need strong-willed and strong-minded female counterparts to even them out and bring a sense of levity to the series.'
