Author has written 2 stories for Twilight. Hello! My name is Amber Goldsmith. My pen name is Feng Huang Yue, Feng Yue for short, a Chinese title meaning "Moon Phoenix" I bequeathed myself some years ago when I adopted the symbol of the Chinese empress, the fenghuang. Serving as a personal symbol of eternal devotion and the moon, it also symbolizes the hope and inspiration in my life gained from the Twilight Saga, and how its influence continues to affect both my personal and public life. A professionally diagnosed high-functioning autistic savant and outspoken advocate of music and the arts, I am seventeen years old, live in Florida, and attend private high school, and write poetry, novellas, novels, short stories, and essays both for fun and various competitions. Last year my poetry won the Creative Writing Fall Poetry Contest and was published in an anthology with other winners from across the nation, and I work in my spare time to help those with disabilities, especially autism and Asperger's Syndrome, and as a freelance journalist. More recently, in May 2009, I won the position of playing Jasper Hale on the prestigious site Equinox RPG and serve as a Vampire species moderator and journalist for the Twilight web magazine "The Solstice" as well as covering Florida Twilight conventions for NewMoonMovie.org. I also aim to help with the volunteer and fanfiction events for TwiCon 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as the events for AccioCon 2010 in Orlando, Florida. Currently I am working on a new concept for a canon story spin-off of the popular Edward and Carlisle fanfiction "Icatha is Gorges", titled A Year in Icatha, revolving around Jasper, Alice, their relationship, and a new human character whom Jasper befriends. The storyline slightly reminiscent of Mitch Albom's Tuesdays With Morrie, and inspired by several other classic works, such as John Irving's A Prayer for Owen Meany, also centers on the themes of love, forgiveness, redemption, and salvation. Inspirations: The human life of Bree Hale featured in the chapter "Memoir" of Broken Wings is based on the autobiography, true events, and persona of bullying solution advocate Jodee Blanco, the author of Please Stop Laughing At Me. Bird shirt "Moody Skies" from the Nordstrom Twilight collection, reminiscent of Broken Wings. Several of the original characters in Blue Moon are based off of Inuit tribal legends regarding the sea goddess Sedna and the culture and selkie and hunter mythology of the Orkney Islands of Scotland, as well as sylphs and the vampire and werewolf mythology - particuarly imprinting and a similar feature in Blue Moon called 'Binding' - of Twilight. | |||||||||||
