Important news about Calydithia Sheppard and the Death Eaters of Mystery!
Due to unforseen circumstances regarding promises and lack of ability to uphold them on another person's fault, I will not be posting "Caly" for the foreseeable future. That's not to say I haven't more of it (I'm about halfway through chapter five on this update (1/21/08) and three and four are "in the can"), but because my editor walked out on me and I'm on indefinite hiatus of speaking to her and I made a promise not to post anything without her approval, I will not be putting up the rest of Caly until she gives them back with her stamp of approval. That's not to say I don't have more editors, but I said I want her feedback, so I'm going to wait till I get it. If you want more Caly, PM me and we'll talk about "delivery" options and such.
I apologize for this inconvenience, and I thank those of you who want to continue reading (those who don't... talk to me... or you're dead to me. You're choice)
And now, back to our regularly scheduled Profile:
Howdy, my name's Dini, and I'm a writer.I've finished two fanfictions in my writing career, a story called Batgirl Year Two (it's actually quite good, if I do say so myself... And I'm considering writing another one in the future (because I got a wicked cool idea that plopped into my head recently) but only if people think I should do it. I really liked how I ended Batgirl Year Two, but I'm debating on whether or not to continue. Maybe... I do love her so...) and another one (my personal favorite) Cedric Diggory and the Goblet of Fire (which is a masterpiece, if I do say so myself) which I did finally finish just after the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which makes me very happy because I never thought I'd finish it (although, now that I have, I miss Promise and Cedric ever so much cuz I'm never going to write them again)
I'm currently in school (college! w00t!), so I don't have time for a lot, but I'm currently working on a new Harry Potter story because I got a really good idea for one. If you haven't found it yet, it's called "Calydithia Sheppard and the Death Eaters of Mystery." It's a work in progress, and I don't know how long it is, but it's more of a side-project than anything. I'm not gonna rush it, but I want to keep it rolling just so I have something to do. But, before you read it, I'm going to give you a disclaimer: this isn't Cedric. This isn't Star Wars. It's a whole lot grittier and I'm gonna show a darker(ish) side of Harry Potter in the sense that I'm going to make Harry in Order of the Phoenix look like a cute little boy with a lollipop and sailor hat (Donald Duck style, with a tassel) because Caly is not a nice person. She's actually kinda bitchy, I'm not gonna lie to you. But trust me, you'll care about her, it's just gonna be a ride for a while, okay?
As for nowhere close to finished, that's my Firefly. I only have about ten pages of that one, but a full season planned out... I doubt I'll even work on it again, though... It is so hard to write something that was so perfect initially...
The other one up my sleeve is my Star Wars fanfiction. I basically just take the Star Wars universe, jump the story about 175 years, and write a completely original stories with all but one original characters. I structure it like LOST and there's a lot to be said about it. Because every time I write it I get some cool new idea for it.
So that's me... If you have problems... My people can talk to your people... But only if you have people mind you... My people don't work direct... I shoot them otherwise. If you would like a review (honest reviews mind you... I ain't sugarcoating nothing) e-mail/message me/ stand on a rooftop and call out my name until I listen and I'll get back to you within a week (hey... I'm way too busy... but I promise I'll get back to you), or if you wanna talk about just ANYTHING (I mean anything) message me through here, with your e-mail (or not, whatever) and/or AIM address (or not, whatever) and we can talk about... anything...
Have a nice day!
Update (5-26-07): So... Yeah... I'll take this down once it becomes pertinent... But to those of you reading Cedric right now, I have to say I've run out of time on Cedric. I've been really good about putting up pre-written chapters for the past twelve-odd weeks... Except for last week, when I thought I'd finish writing my next chapter cuz I thought I'd have time... Truth is, I have MAJOR writer's block on it right now. I'm on page four and I keep staring at the screen and... NOTHING. It's maddening cuz usually Cedric flows and now it's not flowing... Maybe I do really hate Cho Chang.
So because I usually update Cedric on... Mondays at midnight GMT, and because the next chapter doesn't look like it's going to get done by tomorrow at midnight GMT I'm just going to post it as soon as I can... So... check back... cuz I want to have another chapter done by NEXT Monday at midnight GMT.
And then I think I'm going to shoot myself in the foot for rushing art and Cedric... Keep reading!
Update (5-27-07): I lied. Cedric's been posted. Hopefully I'll be on par for next week... Hopefully... But man did that chapter take a few hours to write...
Update (6-2-07): Ha. Funny thing writing. I thought I'd be able to do one chapter of Cedric a week. Now I realize that's not going to happen. It's too quixotic for me to think I can do something that amazing. I need to take my time and stuff to really get it done. That's why as of this moment, I'm turning Cedric into a biweekly series... That means it'll come out punctually every other week. This means that I'll make sure the chapters are extra good, and I know y'all won't mind in the end. No one remembers The Watchmen was late. Of course... I'm not writing The Watchmen... But that's not the point. Point is, once it's done, no one will remember I was late on it, only that Promise was really really cool.
On another, Cedric related note, I realized just how far into Cedric I am. Truth is, I'm pretty far and there's not a whole lot more story to tell. Yeah, I could start describing every day, but that'd really kill it because I'm not as awesome as those guys who write 24. No. I actually know exactly how it's going to work. I just finished writing chapter 13. Turns out, the more I think about it, there's only really going to be another four chapters. That's right. Four. That's it. Then it's over and done.
Well, that's not quite true. I have one more story in here that I have yet to tell, and that's why I'm going to be writing an epilogue to finish off the story. That's going to take me a while to write... but I'll keep you all posted.
So for those of you just joining us, here's the short version: No Cedric this week. Now it's updated every other week. There's only four more chapters left, and then an epilogue after that, and that's the end of the story.
Update (6-17-07): Chapter Fifteen is hilarious. Yes, ladies and gentlemen. For all two of you who check back here to see if things happen... Something's happening. With all this free summer time I have on my hands, I have begun to write the next chapter. Essentially, it's a whimsical Chapter Eleven-esque chapter. I'm advancing the Cedric-centric plot (my story, not the story of the Triwizard Tournament) through humor, and let me say, this is probably one of my favoritist chapters ever, and I'm not even done with it. Because of all the things I want to/ have to do it might be a while before it's done in its entirity, but here's where I say it.
THE NEW CHAPTER WILL BE DONE BY NEXT SUNDAY, IF NOT THEN EARLIER.
Because I recently came to the decision about something: me treating writing like a chore that needs to be done by a certain date (i.e. every other Sunday) isn't a good thing. It just encourages my procrastination, and my procrastination need not be discouraged. Therefore you should check back periodically to see if Cedric's been updated. I graduate from High School Wednesday (see? I'm eighteen, I can say these things) and I want to really have it done before then. So thanks for all the support! And I promise, the next chapter will be great. Promise is at the top of her game, and I'm taking the characters back to the roots so they can be uplifiting positive stories rather than this constant absence of friends that's been apparant since after chapter eleven.
Update (6-19-07): Chapter fifteen's done. Super long... 15,000 words (24 pages) but super great. Writing that was one of the best things... EVER! It's my favorite chapter thus far!
New chapter coming soon. I have more to do in the next chapter because I ended 15 early (Early? yeah... right...)... WAY earlier than I had planned... So expect 16 to cover everything UP TO the day of the Third Task. That's how much time I have to cover... All of March, all of April, all of May, and almost ALL of June... Damn. And that's Third Task training in there... That's some meaty stuff I have to deal with... Crap... Shoulda planned this better...
But 15 being any longer woulda be ri-donk-ulous. You woulda been like "DINI! SHUT UP!" so I ended it there, and it's a satisfactory ending... Cuz you don't know what comes next (but I do!)...
Anyways... Vague time limit for 16? I wanna start this upcoming weekend, but I can't do ANYTHING until Friday (today's Tuesday) so... yeah... It'll probably take me longer to write cuz it won't be as fun... But yeah.. Good times! I loved writing it... and I hope you have fun reading it...
And one more thing. I finally know how the epilogue is ending, which means I can't have this done before DH comes out... Sorry guys, but canon first!!!
Only two chapters and an epilogue left!
Update (6-30-07): So I definitely posted chapter sixteen... Didn't take as long to finish as I liked. I was thinking about splitting it in half, but my rushing it kind of makes sense (time slips away because the more you try to grasp at it, the faster it flies...) and it's better to have a REALLY fatty, good quality chapter than two that are very... meh...
And no, before any of you ask, I'm not on crack. That dream sequence I actually made a whole lot less trippy just to let you know (just ask my editor...) and everything in that sequence is incredibly... prophetic I'd say. You can figure out the rest of the novel if you examine it (and I don't write very deeply, just to let you know)...
So the next chapter will be seventeen and the final chapter... yeah... apologies and all that... but I'm doing one thing different with this chapter to let you know that the end is nigh. People will probably bug me (once it's over) to write more about Cedric or Promise or Sam or Olivia, but in all honesty, I'm not going to. It's like J.K. with DH. She's not writing prequels because everything will be answered by the end of the novel. Same with Cedric. You'll see a lot of things in the next chapter that'll leave you... I don't know if I'd say satisfied... but satisfied yet saddened at the same time, I guess. I think you'll enjoy what I do with it...
It'll probably take a little bit longer than sixteen, but less than fifteen... I plan to get it done, at the very least, before the end of the first weekend in July... So... a week... hey! Look at that...
Update (7-9-07): I look at that last paragraph from the last update and laugh...
I'm working on the next chapter right now. But between all sorts of things going along, I'm still about eight to ten pages short. Yeah... This chapter is longer than sixteen and it looks like it's for sure going to be longer than fifteen. This chapter's epic. I was talking with my editor today about maybe splitting it up, but to throw in everything I have for chapter seventeen so far and then make the maze a separate chapter would make for some bad storytelling. It'll get done though. And soon. I'm hoping sooner rather than later.
But what I've written so far is AMAZING. I'm in love with the things I've written about... It's so brootiful!
Update (7-19-07): So as you know by now, Chapter 17 is posted, and (as you undoubtedly already know) it will be the last chapter.
But it is not (I repeat: NOT) the end of the story. Not by a long shot. Some of you know this, some of you don't... but the story was never intended to END with 17. There's one more piece coming, my epilogue of sorts, where I get to pay homage and say goodbye to everyone because I desperately need that. So yes, there will be an epilogue. I doubt it'll be as crazy long as the final chapters (those were brutally long) but it should still be decent... enough for everyone else to say goodbye. I have high hopes and expectations for it.
And yes, the epilogue will be the last time I write about Cedric, Promise, and Sam. There will be no sequels, no prequels, no AU's... there might be more HP stories (I'd need an idea) but there will not be another story that I will write that will incorporate the three mentioned above. Their story is complete (or it will be) and you'll see why after the epilogue. It's going to be hard to say goodbye, but the ending will make many people happy, and I know I'll be able to send Promise off to the sunset with a happy heart, knowing she'll be okay in the realm of fiction.
There's a "however" though. There's a big however. See, I haven't started writing it yet. It's in my head, and the epilogue in its entirety is there, waiting to come out my fingertips and onto your screens, but I don't have time to write it yet. I probably won't have time until just about early August to get it out to you (I'm going on vacation after that) but I guarantee it will be out within a matter of weeks. I just want to take my time and make it good and what I want, so I need to just sit down for about two days and hammer out the whole thing with no interruptions (which isn't an easy thing in this day and age).
So keep checking! It'll be here soon (not before Deathly Hallows and that's part of the reason...) and I think you'll enjoy what I have planned for Promise. I wouldn't send her off pointlessly. I love her too much.
Update (7-23-07): So Cedric Diggory and the Goblet of Fire is officially complete and I'm... pleased. I enjoy how it ended and I'm proud of it. Getting here, done, has been a trip so I thank all the readers SO much for reading, even if it was just one chapter...
Thank you so, so much!
Update (10-14-07): I'm working on Chapter 2 of Caly. It's going well, and I'm working out not just her character, but background for her story that makes her so, so fascinating. It's not that long yet, so y'all should read the first chapter.
