Hey... my name's Kate but I guess everyone already can see that. :) I live in the US spending most of my time writing, working on my website- Shelterintherain.net, writing on my blog, reading, watching Law and Order: SVU and X-Files--- my favorite shows, etc.
I love to write a variety of things such as poetry, short stories (western, romance, drama, action, angst, etc.), Any form of writing, I'd be willing to try my hand in (with strong exceptions to sci-fi and horror-- sorry to those fans )
I graduated from highschool in 2004 and went to college for a semester majoring in Computer Science but dropped for the time being to reconsider my major and come up with more money for school. I currently live with my mom and I have three brothers who are spread out all over th US, one of them living with my dad.
Most of my SVU stories come from personal experience, especially the ones that have to do with alcoholism so I guess, in a way, I look to writing as a way to express my deep hidden feelings, especially having no one I can really share them with.
I've made it my mission in life to help those suffering from lonliness and depression and that is what my website- Shelter In The Rain - deals with. That is also a big reason why I like to cover some tough issues in my stories, I would like for others out there to know that they're not alone.
In my story, Memories and Cheap Wine, I basically cover my own feelings about someone I've had to watch suffer from alcoholism and also my fears--- the fear that our relationship will never have a chance to be made right as Olivia Benson and her mother never had a chance to make things right before her mother's untimely death.
In another story, Never Let Go, through Kathleen Stabler, I reveal my own promise that I've made to myself to wait on sex. "True Love Waits" is a statement that I wear on my bracelette everyday. And I also reveal my own secret wish that my father could be there for me as Elliot is for his daughter. Hope this gives you a little insight into what thoughts end up causing these stories to come out on paper. If asked, I suppose the stories that I'm most proud of thus far are The Sound of His Footsteps, Memories and Cheap Wine and The Nearness of You although one that I had quite a bit of fun writing was Coffee and a Car Chase... I'm pretty much like a guy when it comes to action movies.
My favorite quote is--- "You may only be one person to the world but you may be the world to one person" --- I live by that statement. Thanks to all of my readers!
