Author has written 27 stories for Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Forgotten Realms, Inkheart, Misc. Books, Artemis Fowl, Shakespeare, Phantom of the Opera, Inheritance Cycle, Charles Dickens, Star Wars, Orson Scott Card, and Misc. Plays/Musicals. June 2, 2008--I've decided that my profile is too long. So, instead of writing my next chapter for Son of Kings, like I should be doing, I'm changing it. Right now, my two primary obsessions are Hamlet and Lord of the Rings. Harry Potter was counted among them a few months ago, but since the seventh book came out, it's sort of faded out of mind (except for the Lily/James story that I'm writing with IsadoraJohnson on our account Nevermorian Knights, which you should really check out). A list of my favorite books would probably occupy a hundred-page book in and of itself, so I'll stick mostly to generalizations. I love anything by Shakespeare (well, okay, not anything--A Midsummer Night's Dream was a disaster), Tolkien, or Jane Austen. I loved Jane Eyre, I hated Wuthering Heights, and, even though I'm a teenage girl, the Twilight series is not one of my obsessions. A lot of my favorites are as follows: Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, Les Miserables, Hamlet, Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, A Tale of Two Cities, Inkheart, Thief Lord, Julius Caesar, MacBeth, Hamlet!, the Crucible, To Kill A Mockingbird, Hamlet, Shogun, Lord of the Rings (this list isn't in order, by the way, but even so, this one should be way further up there), Seer and the Sword, Hamlet, Ender's Series, Pendragon, Secret Garden, East, Flame, The Goblin Wood, Dark Elf Trilogy, The Alliance, The Goose Girl, Stargirl, Hamlet, Princess Bride, His Dark Materials Trilogy... did I mention Hamlet? I am a grammar FREAK. Very few have more claim to that title than I. There are a lot of fictional characters whom, however they're portrayed in the books or movies, I practically idealize and make my heros. Among them are Aragorn, Remus Lupin, Horatio, Hamlet, John Proctor, Marcus Brutus, Mr. Darcy, Trouble Kelp, and Jean Valjean. One book that I think deserves way more attention than it gets is Seer and the Sword, by Victoria Hanley. I'd recommend it to anyone who liked Inkheart, Eragon, Goose Girl, Flame... and also to anyone who didn't. It's amazing. I listen almost exclusively to Broadway showtunes, movie soundtracks, and religious pop. Right now, I'm sort of hooked on Ragtime (the musical), though Les Miserables is and always has been my absolute favorite. I don't watch TV (no, Kenz, not even The Office), and I don't see all that many movies. My favorites are Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Phantom of the Opera, While You Were Sleeping (I usually hate chick flicks like this, but I don't know what it was about this one... maybe Bill Pullman had something to do with it.), Les Miserables, Pride and Prejudice, and Sense and Sensibility. I am thorougly convinced that if Warner Brothers had cast Bill Pullman as Remus Lupin and Viggo Mortensen as Sirius Black, they could have saved the Harry Potter movies. After all, Remus and Sirius are the only ones who really matter, right? July 1, 2008--I saw Gladiator (edited) about a week ago, and it has officially taken its rightful place as one of my all time favorite movies. It was perfectly amazing. "There is a special providence in the fall of a sparrow." ~Hamlet, Act V, scene ii "Fairy-tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten." ~G. K. Chesterton "Dawn is not far off, but dawn will not help us, I fear." ~Gamling ~Aragorn, The Two Towers "Fear not!" said a strange voice behind him. Frodo turned and saw Strider, and yet not Strider; for the weatherworn Ranger was no longer there. In the stern sat Aragorn son of Arathorn, proud and erect, guiding the boat with skillful strokes; his hood was cast back, and his dark hair was blowing in the wind, a light was in his eyes: a king returning from exile to his own land. "To sleep, perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub, ~Hamlet, Act III, scene i "For once look at the planet with an eye for phenomena; more shocking than any sight is that we are not perpetually astonished. Everything proves breathtaking, and yet, still we breathe." ~Jocelyn Streid "There's a divinity that shapes our ends, rough-hew them how we will." ~Hamlet, Act V, scene ii "Courage is not a man with a gun in his hand. It's knowing you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what." ~Atticus, To Kill a Mockingbird | |||||||||||
