As fate would have it, I'm actually a huge fan of The Phantom of the Opera. I loved the Susanna Foster/Nelson Eddy movie version and it inspired me to buy the London cast sountrack of ALW's Phantom of the Opera which hooked me on the story permanently. The ALW musical led me to the Gaston Leroux book (probably my favorite version of the story) and turned me into a phan. I've seen quite a few Phantom movies, read several Phantom books (including Kay's well-known version of the story) and I've read quite a lot of phanfiction.

In real life I'm an opera singer. I also dance. Go figure. I keep swearing that I will take a break from singing or quit, but it never happens. From time to time, I go on hiatus from updating because when I'm in back to back shows, all of my time is devoted to rehearsing or preparing music.

The first draft is completed and here for your reading enjoyment. The Gaston Leroux canon gets flipped upside down when various film and musical canons intrude into the story leading to an adventure for Carlotta and friends as they try to sort out the mess. There's a very good chance that your fave phantom is included in the story through some reference or other. The revision, when it happens, will clean up some themes, mix in some more fanfic elements and it's probably time to take out the snakes on an ingenious plane reference although the plane itself will stick around. If you're wondering who the MarySue of the Opera might be, you might note that the story is in first person, people do seem to fall in love with the heroine willy nilly and there are a suspicious number of references to fancy outfits, even if they do seem to get in the way or drenched in lake water or torn or covered in cobwebs and dirt. Draw your own conclusions.

I'm mixing Phantom of the Opera with fairytales and fairies in a modern setting. This means that I'm about as AU as I can possibly be. In case you're wondering which Phantom I'm using, I'd say my own which means that you're pretty much free to imagine any phantom that you prefer. The primary inspiration came from the ballad Tam Lin.
