FINISHED MY EXAMS, FINALLY.
Thanks a lot to all the new followers and those who favourited/reviewed!
I got a job recently too, have a big wad of papers to translate for mid-June which is why I'm late in updating. (AGAIN.)
Border of Taboo's 11th chapter is finished but I need to rewrite one of the main scenes because it quite frankly sucks after all the french/english dallying I've been doing lately between exams, french social life (me, a social life? Ahaha), etc, etc. But, you know me, I wouldn't be satisfied if I delivered some half-assed chapter after such a long wait.
And, ah, Virginal... I just haven't budged on that one. Once again I'm going to have to make a huge effort for the plot structure which is something I'm not really used to doing. I think I'll get on it once Border of Taboo is finished, which will probably be sometime this summer. Sorry, I'm just the sort of person who writes with a really flexible plot and when you've got a huge political structure to stick to and a complicated agenda when it comes to the opposition you can't be flexible... and it just hurts my brain! ;w; It'll be a great exercise when I'll get down to it but for now I'm just like, eh, I'll do it properly later.

Coming soon:

Virginal update: I have no idea, but certainly after June 2013
Border of Taboo update: In the first week of June! And yes, that counts. I'm writing right now. :)

New! THE MUMMY fic, "The Curse": (Working title.) First chapter probably coming out sometime in June. Old idea that I found and decided to revamp.
Based on Josh Ritter's song, The Curse. It starts at Hamunaptra, during the first movie. Evy decides to behave as a serious archaeologist-to-be and brings Imhotep's mummy back to the Cairo museum to better study and preserve him (as well as protect him from the Americans). The revival still goes as planned, though this time I'll explore Imhotep's psychology so that his old personality shines through rather than the "world dominating" one.
The structure will be one chapter in the modern world, and the next in ancient Egypt, describing Anck-su-Namun and Imhotep's relationship, and Imhotep's past.
Pairing: Evy/Imhotep/Anck. Yes I'm addicted to triangles now. :D

Be assured that I always check out your work if you take time to leave me an opinion, positive or negative, even if you didn't make it past the first few paragraphs. ;)

:Autobiographical Fics:

I'm the sort of person that keeps her grief to herself, and never shares it for fear of other people interpreting her attitude, refering to her as a certain psychological type, etc. So, since grief is the type of thing that must be shared, I share it with fictional characters.

Freefall (FFVII): Based on a first love of mine, a rather sadistic girl who is now a fully fledged libertine. This was when I'd chosen to break away from her, so about five years into the relationship. I had fought my way to get to the position of "the favourite", and once I'd obtained her full attention and love, I had distanced myself from everyone else, everything else that didn't include her. I felt immensely guilty and doubtful about breaking away from her, since she had distanced herself from everything that didn't include me, too. And I never really explained to her why I broke away, it was so sudden, like survival instinct kicking in and forcing me to lash out. This fic is practically a stream-of-consciousness of that time, that I traced over Zack and Aeris.

Heavy in your Arms (FFVII): Based on a second love of mine, a man this time. Four years. Much softer, and purer than what I had with the aforementionned girl. I couldn't write about death for at least a few months - experiencing his death was something I wanted to analyze and express to get it out of me but I just couldn't. This was my first attempt to spell out what it felt like, though it's difficult to sort through and express all the different phases I've been going through. Traced over Vincent and Lucrecia. It would've made more sense, perhaps, to trace it over Aeris and Zack, but I relate a lot more to Vincent's psychological tendencies than Aeris'.

: Fandoms :

- Final Fantasy VII
Sephiroth with any of the girls and guys, and same for Aeris. Have a soft spot for well-written Tifa/Sephiroth too - and Vincent's always been a favourite. Otherwise, I finally played Crisis Core and I really had to write Genesis to warm up to him, he's given so little visible character development in the game even though there's so much potential for psychological growth. I'm starting to love playing around with the First Class trio, and finding fics that explore their comradeship or that go so far as pairing them up is great!
- Dracula
I have been in love with vampires for so, so long. So even though I've now read Bram Stoker's book a few times and have realized that this movie is sort of not very good, well who gives a damn! It's Gary bloody Oldman and Winona Ryder. :D And the concept vampire/human is still appealing to me, even after the Twilight hurricane. After growing up with The Little Vampire, there was Anne Rice, Sunshine, True Blood, and all those urban fantasies that play around with the concept... still haven't brushed up on the older, more literary takes on vampires but they're definitely on my list. So yeah. Twilight is just one interpretation, and it's pretty much cooled down now, so I've gotten over the strange popularity of the concept.
- The Mummy
Oh, alright, so it's an excuse to write something with an egyptian theme... here, Imhotep/Anck is really my only reason for writing in this fandom.
- Star Wars
I've gotten over my fear of the Extended Universe and am ploughing on with Virginal, whose mere scope still intimidates me a little. I'm not sure I could write that many oneshots for this fandom since I always feel the urge to dig into their personnalities and find reasons for everything, since the characters are frustratingly shallow in the prequels - in my humble opinion. Strangely enough I don't particularly ship anyone here - I just love finding well-written interpretations of the characters. I do like Obidala though. :D

I'd like to try writing in other FF universes but I just can't get my head out of the seventh, it's so good. Can't get enough of it! Have been trying my hand at one of the only anime I've watched and enjoyed till the end, Blood (plus), because it's bloody amazing too. (I've recently fallen in love with Speedgrapher too, though its fandom seems to be quite shockingly absent. Then again, if you like Sephiroth, you'll obviously fall in love with any character who's a rich white-haired bastard doing evil things for his own personal reasons, and who spent his childhood as a lab rat. I do love the reasons behind his apparent 'evil' though; money, and all its dirty ramifications. Though a bit clichéd, it's intelligently expressed for an anime.)
