Hi there! I'm Alex. You can call me GreenCat3, GreenCat, Greeny, Chatvert, or Zed. I, uh...I like my nicknames. A lot. I tend to go by Chatvert on the internet anymore. I'm a twenty-one-year-old junior at the College of William & Mary. This lovely lady in my avatar is Joanna Dark - specifically from Perfect Dark: Janus' Tears.

I write in a lot of fandoms, but of course, all of my stories except for the Fanfiction Academic Institute of Langley and Butterfly Effect are very, very old. Like, I-wrote-this-when-I-was-in-sixth-grade old. So, please ignore them. I would delete them, but they make me feel nostalgic and happy, as well as illustrating how much I've improved over the years. Would I write an author-avatar-falls-into-canon-of-choice fic now? Possibly, because I am an irredeemable nerd. Would it be way better than those two lurking old monstrosities at the bottom of the page? Certainly! Because by God, are they terrible. Don't look, don't looook!

Of late, I've been writing a lot in the Bourne, Chuck, Sherlock, and West Wing fandoms...of course, since I've got an inner ruthless editor as well as an outer insecure writer, most of what I write never sees the light of day. Deal with it? :D I tend not to update often, so it's not unusual for me to go for spates of six months or more with nothing, and then update with four chapters for each story. This is because sometimes that damnable menace known as Real Life drags me away from the keyboard kicking and screaming.

I am a self-proclaimed Grammar Nazi, and don't you forget it. I'm also a stickler for canon and proper research - I literally cannot continue writing something unless I'm certain that all facts are reasonably correct. (Such as, oh, I don't know, helicopters can't fly during sandstorms, thank you certain professional author who shall not be named at this time.)

Fandoms

The Bourne fandom has been demanding a lot of my attention, since it just spawns the plotbunnies. I have a particular love for the books, and a special soft spot for the (often marginalized) characters of Alex Conklin and Mo Panov. They get all the best lines in the series. It's great.

Another fandom that is near and dear to my heart is Young Wizards. I haven't written anything for it, but that may change in the future. Dairine is my favorite character, even though I love them all. Even the Lone Power.

One of the first fandoms I started writing for is James Bond (and I have the badfic to show for it, sob). I've got a fascination with Cold War-era spy fiction, if you couldn't tell already. A favorite of mine is Alec Trevelyan, because he's the perfect adversary for Bond.

The West Wing is probably my favorite show, and I'm willing to attribute a lot of my initial love for the series to Aaron Sorkin's whip-smart dialogue. (To give you an idea of how much I love the series, I watched all of it - all seven seasons - in the space of one month. Obsession, thy name is Alex.) All of the characters are my favorite, though I have a special soft spot for Leo, and Bartlet is on my list of Incredibly Awesome People With Canes. (It is a very short list, whose only other occupant is bookverse!Conklin.)

Sherlock is my obsession of the now. I love me some well-written Johnlock, but I have some conflicted feelings on the pairing. Doesn't mean that it can't hit me right in the emotions, however! I'm working on a few things for it - they are all post-Reichenbach, and all way too tragic for me to deal with writing more than a thousand words at a time for them. I can't with this.

Miscellany

If you're at all interested in what I listen to when I write, it's usually movie soundtracks. Of course, John Powell's Bourne scores are what I jam to when I write Bourne fanfic, and I also enjoy David Arnold's James Bond, Hot Fuzz, and Stargate scores. Michael Giacchino's score for LOST is also excellent if I'm going for a creepy mood, and Michel Legrand's score for The Thomas Crown Affair (Steve McQueen, not Pierce Brosnan) helps me get in the '60s vibe. Hans Zimmer is the king of movie music, in my eyes, so whatever he does (Gladiator, The Lion King, PotC, The Da Vinci Code, Inception) is always fantastic. Steve Jablonsky's score for The Island is also a favorite of mine, and Harry Gregson-Williams wrote a fantastic, soaring score for Kingdom of Heaven. Don't even get me started on Jerry Goldsmith's score for The Wind and the Lion, or Mychael Danna's score for Breach. As for music with words, which I rarely tend to listen to while writing because I can get distracted by singing along, I usually trend towards Dido, The Beatles, Keane, and Muse.
