Update - 10.08.12

Life...

My son relapsed last month. The cancer is back and we've been in the hospital since September 5th. We spent three weeks in ICU and it was touch-and-go for a while there. I have no idea when we'll be allowed to go home.

I haven't felt much like writing lately (unlike some writers, depression does not work for me)... but a very good friend of mine gave me an inspirational shove the other day and kicked my muse in the ass. Thanks for cheering me up, Matt.

Nope, I'm still not dead. It's just been a long, long summer.

I am putting my Ronin Warriors fanfic Prophecy on a temporary hiatus (since it was on an unofficial hiatus anyway) while I work on a new project. My plan right now is to complete my new project and post it (a chapter or two at a time), and then return to Prophecy to do the same with it.

To anyone who stumbles across this account:

No, I am not dead. (Or inactive.) I have made numerous attempts to get back into writing, but every time I stand up life tries to run me over with a Mack truck...

Most recently, my son (who is now three years old) was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). That was August of 2011. We have been in treatment since then, and the majority of our last seven months have been spent in-patient at MD Anderson, and in frequent all-day clinic visits between hospital admissions. The good news is, he has responded well to his chemotherapy treatments and we may be reaching the end stages of treatment and he will be officially declared "in remission." It is not a sure thing, but I am hopeful. Please keep him in your prayers.

That being said, I have not stopped writing. I've just not written anything worth posting. I would still like to to (one day) finish my long-standing WIP, Prophecy, since I've had the entire story plotted out for an age... and yet it's been languishing in my brain (and on my hard drive) for at least a decade. (Wow, saying that makes me feel old.) However, when I might actually get back to it still remains to be seen.

To my former betas, I owe the sincerest of apologies. I did not mean to disappear on you guys at all. Life just got the better of me.

A Tale Untold (a Pokemon fanfic)

Strangely, A Tale Untold started as a forum roleplay that went unfinished when the forum shut down. One day, while a friend and I were lamenting over ATU's untimely demise, I suggested rewriting it as a fanfic to give it a proper ending... and he said "DO IT." Thus, A Tale Untold is now being made over Fanfic Style and will eventually be posted here (after we finish it).

I will (hopefully) be returning Prophecy to my "pet projects" list soon. I need to prove to myself that I can finish what I started so many years ago… and if I don’t get on with it my muse will probably drop-kick me into the next century. He’s been making some very pissy noises lately—and I can't really blame him.

I am twenty-six years old and I have been dubbed by my best friend as the Empress of Yay. I love to read, and my personal bookshelves are overflowing with books and manga... and the occasional anime DVD. I also love to roleplay, although (sadly) I don't have much time for it anymore.

I have been reading and writing fanfiction since I was about twelve... and I've been writing original stories for a lot longer than that. Sadly, most of my old work is long gone, but I enjoy reading the bits and pieces that managed to survive the trash bin over the years.
