Hello everyone! I'm Mangaka-chan. As you can probably guess from my pseudonym that my greatest hobby is to drawing fanart. My fantasy is to be a mangaka or doujinshika, but in the real world I'm a college student studying Biology. ;D

Completed Projects:

Return to the Past - My first fanfic and the first part of my Sailor Moon "tetrology". The story is based on the anime and also done in an anime episode-like style. I initally got started by daydreaming. This is the result of being bored and trying to entertain myself. This story is currently being slowly revised for misspellings and other minor errors.

Crystal Tokyo Interlude - The sequel to Return to the Past and the second part of my BSSM series. Compared to the first one this is more manga-like, especially since I made it in the spirit of "Chibi Usa's Picture Diary". When I wrote this I wanted it to be over with so I could move on to my current project, The Blue Rose Renaissance. But despite my disproportionate affections, I found this fanfic surprisingly well plotted and it gave me less writer's blocks than the others.

The Mermaid Princess - This is about Spica's story from Maitantei Loki Ragnorak but since I wrote it when vol.3 of the MLR manga came out, it matches the plot of the manga only up until that point.

The Sound of A Name - won March, '08 "Best Description" category at Live Journal's sm_monthly challenge.

Current Project:

The Blue Rose Renaissance - The story I'm currently working on is centered more or else on my favorite character, Helios. As part three of the "tetrology" I want to take the opportunity to look deeper at this commonly ignored character from Sailor Moon. This story is also loosely based on Shakespeare's "Hamlet". I am having real problems with the logistics of this story because it is complicated. The only relief I have is the knowledge that I actually have most of it planned out, even though I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the ending yet.

Scheherezade - A Princess Tutu fanfic with plot elements and characters from 1001 Arabian Nights. This is a post-series fanfic and as the anime's open-ended conclusion was just asking for the viewers to go and continue the story, that's exactly what I choose to do. One reason I really want to write this story is because the Spinners are relatively unexplored and I want to put out some of my ideas about them. Another reason I want to write this fanfic has to do with relationships between the characters. I've read quite a few PT continuation stories where Fakir and Ahiru somehow already ended up as a couple, but when I finished watching the anime it seems to me they never got to that point with their relationship. So in a way similar to what I was trying to do with Helios and Chibi Usa's relationship in Return to the Past, I want to develop Fakir and Ahiru's relationship from friendship to romance. It won't be easy and Fakir is a really hard character for me to pin down, but I think it will be a challenge I will enjoy.

Warmth (title not finalized) - Amidst all my other projects I’ve started on a short story about Nehellenia, the main villain of the SuperS season in BSSM. I’ve actually wanted to write something about her for a long time but never got around to it. And unlike the other stories I’ve written, there’s no outline or predetermined plan worked out for this one-shot so I'm kind of winging it. I do know that I want to write about her relationship with Helios since it struck me that she’s quite possessive about him and it's a relationship I have yet to see anyone write about in the Sailor Moon fandom. This story is currently on hold as I've been hit with a massive case of writer's block on how to end it. Hopefully someday my Muse will come around and allow me to finish it.

Update 8/17/08: I will be beginning my PhD. program this fall, which means I get even less time to write fanfics. But I fully intend to keep writing or else the plot bunnies will turn carnivorous and eat me alive. Besides my long running series (i.e. Blue Rose Renaissance & Scheherazade) I've started to dabble in writing one-shots and drabble fic-lets, especially for online communities and the like. In that way there will likely be more variety in my future writing endeavors.

Future Project: I have yet to decide on a name for the last part of the "tetrology" but I'm working on the logics of the story right now.
