UPDATED 6/11/08 (I know, finally)
General Info About Myself:
I go by Laire on many websites, and that is what I usually refer myself as in the fan fiction world. I was born on December 30th, I'm 18 years old, and I live in southern California. I am absolutely obsessed with Lord of the Rings and Tolkien; no more, no less. My favorite character is Aragorn, without a doubt, though I also do like Faramir, Gandalf, Halbarad, Elladan/Elrohir, Arwen, and Eowyn, among others. As for fandom stuff, I have been to plenty of LOTR conventions and gatherings, and have seen/met (and a few more than once): Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, Andy Serkis, Richard Taylor, John Noble, Miranda Otto, David Wenham, Rick Porras, Daniel Reeve, Daniel Falconer, Ben Wootten, and Sala Baker. I also have met tons of awesome LOTR fans, including 'infamous' ones such as the creators of 'Ringers', many of the founders of TORn, and author Peter S. Beagle. My room is often nicknamed 'the LOTR Shrine' and for no small reason :)
Anyways, along with writing, I also enjoy drawing, photography, horseback riding, and just surfing the web. You can see my drawings and photography at http://ainulaire.deviantart.com. There is definitely a lot of LOTR fan art on there... I'm sure many of you would like it :-D Also, when I'm feeling particularily mean, I enjoy sporking truly terrible fiction at deleterius on LJ, or PPCing. I know, shame on me ;-) I am the oldest of four, with two brothers and a younger sister who was adopted from China in February 2007. She is one of my inspirations.
I mostly read LOTR fan fiction... here and there I'll read something else. I read humor, parody, action/adventure, drama, angst, good AU, and every now and then romance. I will NOT read slash. I like Arwen/Aragorn, Eowyn/Faramir parings. Legolas/OCs are so overrated, so usually no. I will read 'girl falls to m-e' stories if they are not romance, and somewhat creative. I also like crossovers, preferably PotC/LotR and LotR/HP crossovers. However, they need to be well-written. I am pretty critical when it comes to reading, but take it as a good thing. I will beta-read stories that I find interesting. Please feel free to recommend any stories that meet the above criteria.
Completed Fan Fics:
1. A King Corrupted is a two chapter, T-rated storyabout how the Mouth of Sauron came to be. An original idea of mine, and I have not seen anything of the like on fanfiction.net. One day Imayrewrite it, but for now, do enjoy :)
2. Gone and Forgotten is a one chapter story...one of my favorites. I cannot spoil it here, but just read it if you REALLY want something different ;-) I have been asked about expanding it, and I cannot tell you what I will do with it yet.
3. Never Sleep, Never Die was originally a song-fic that can be found at http://www.geocities.com/ainu_laire/neversleep.html. It was based on Evanescene's song 'Whisper'. The non-song-fic version can be found here on this site. Total angst piece.
4. Safe? is a one-shot based on a Shirebound shirebunny: "Aragorn told Frodo not to lay aside the mithril coat 'even in sleep, unless fortune brings you where you are safe for a while'. After dwelling in Lothlorien for some days, Frodo begins to wonder whether here, at last, is a land safe enough for him to take off the mithril mail."
5. No Mere Ranger is another one-shot Shirebound shirebunny: "Shortly after the Council of Elrond, one of the hobbits runs into Aragorn. Does this hobbit treat him any differently, now that he knows that Strider is much more than 'a mere Ranger?'"
6. Blood of a Brother is a one-shot I wrote for a Teitho contest. We were supposed to use the title 'Blood of a Brother' and then define it in our own way. In this story I defined it in a very dark, AU way... nevertheless, I hope you'll enjoy it.
7. The Writer's Mind is a fun, five chapter fic that I wrote to make fun of pretty much every Aragorn and Legolas torture-fic writer out there in a creative, unique way; completely harmless and just lots of fun.
8. An Elf-lord's Patience is another one-shot. Elrond is always interrupted during his council by silly Mary Sues. One day, he finally cracks. Book and movie fans should both enjoy it.
9. A Midnight Tapping was written for the Halloween Teitho Challenge. It is not for the faint of heart.
10. Early Morning Awakenings was written for Aragorn's birthday. Happy birthday, my dear Ranger! This one is filled with much fluff and cuteness.
11. From Beginning to Beginning was for a Drabble Teitho Contest, and won second place. It is a series of ficlets with a similar theme that will make sense once you read it :-)
12. Stuck in the Book is, yet again, another one shot that parodies the "fall into M-e" plotline in a new and interesting way.
13. A Most Modest Proposition is a one shot that came by when I read yet another fantasy crossover. It makes fun of the whole situation, because, frankly put, faeries and unicorns simply don't belong in Middle-earth.
14. Just a Cold is a five chapter fic that stars Aragorn, Faramir, Arwen, and a few OCs. Humorous with touches of adventure, but book-verse.
WiPs:
1. Pirates of the Ring was my first ever written fan fiction. It has Jack Sparrow and four others of the Caribbean land on Middle-earth. This story contains comedy, romance, action and adventure, a tad of angst, a touch on character's emotions, and more. It should be about 45 chapters total when complete. I am still writing it, but updates are very slow to come. Chapters do get better as they go along, as I got older as I wrote it ;-)
2. Monty Python and the Holy Jewel is, naturally, a Monty Python crossover. It takes place in the 4th Age of Middle-earth... and it is quite a ride. Right now it is on hiatus; I'll get back to it one day, though, when I have time and such.
3. Rewriting Time is the sequel to The Writer's Mind. A bit darker than the original, and certainly much longer, but still follows the original theme of the first story. It will be 20 or 21 chapters when completed.
4. Tales of Life is a set of ficlets written for weekly prompts in the AragornAngst Yahoo listing (just a general Aragorn fan fiction fanbase). They all have Aragorn in them, and they are all book-verse (yay book-verse!).
Plot bunnies/upcoming works:
1. The story behind Legolas' stunt at Helm's Deep.
2. A Gondor-centric 4th Age AU political story. I have written the prologue and have a rough outline, but nothing more.
3. A revamp of an Aragorn and Faramir Teitho story. It's nearly finished at this point.
4. A couple Shirebound Shirebunnies
5. An Aragorn and Faramir AU fic
6. A story starring Bilbo and Aragorn that has the beginning written but otherwise is going nowhere
7. A Palantir and Aragorn fic
8. A movie AU fic concerning Aragorn and Saruman.
And so much more...

Fave poem:
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost.
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring.
Renewed shall be the blade that was broken,
The crownless again will be king.
-JRR Tolkien, riddle to Strider (Aragorn's) name and identity. Written by Bilbo Baggins.
The coolest speech ever made in cinema history:
"Hold your ground! Hold your ground! Sons of Gondor; of Rohan; my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails; when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the age of Men comes crashing down. But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!"
-Aragorn, son of Arathorn, Estel, Elfstone, Elessar Telcontar, Cheif of the Dunedain, heir to Elendil, and to the throne of Arnor and Gondor. A King among men, the last of the royal Numenorean line. He is making a speech to his big army (where he looks SO cool) in "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King".
That's all that comes to mind now. I put my email on my bio, and if you have any questions or comments feel free to email or PM me! Ta!
