My manifesto: My characters do not necessarily reflect me. They have their own beliefs and prejudices that do not necessarily reflect mine. Just because Joe Shmoe thinks Dirk is a jerk, it doesn't mean I do.

Seme/uke stereotypes annoy me to no end. When I write relationships, all of the people involved view each other as equals, no matter their gender or their roles in bed. Furthermore, gender stereotypes also bug the hell out of me. Just because a man is sensitive and a woman is tough, it doesn't mean he's a wimp or she needs someone to "thaw her." It is simply the way they are. Conversely, just because a woman is sensitive and a man is tough, it does not make her weak and him "strong" or anything of the sort. They are who they are, and their strengths will shine through anyway.

More often than not, I will write gen as opposed to romance. While romantic love is a typical part of life, friendship is also extremely important and often overlooked.

I like when a piece makes me think and figure out the ways in which that particular fanon works. Thus, I try to leave some room for interpretation. Sometimes it's enough to inspire someone else to write.

I believe that a secret to good writing is to ensure that things happen because of the characters, and things never happen to them. I have read far too many pieces--professional and fan--that merely paint their characters as victims who never learn to try and deal with or fight against the circumstances around them. A character must be dynamic and round, able to change and full of different and sometimes contradictory qualities that make them feel more human.

On a related note, I will never ever bash a character. If someone is portrayed in a negative light, it is often due to another character's self-serving bias or something to that effect.

That said, visit my C2: Overlooked and Underloved. I try to pick up as many good fics and romances for characters in many fandoms who are bashed, under-used, or just plain minor players in the canon itself.

Currently, I am collaborating with Shaun Garin on the Element, Reverse Rebirth, Lost Heaven, and Justice League Advent Children fanfic-verses. Most of our collaborations will be found on his journal, though some JLAC fics are on my profile. I have also written a oneshot for Merlin Missy's birthday in her R-verse, though it was a one-time thing. Ryan Griffin and I were collaborating on Path to Twilight, a Kingdom Hearts AU borrowing characters from his Kingdom Hearts Origins and my Brick Ballads, but God only knows if we'll ever finish that.

Three teams of heroes gather to regenerate the five elements of their worlds. However, once they do, that isn't the end of their adventure. Other worlds, magic, and aliens are all around them, and they must fight to protect them.
--Lost Heaven: All of the above. Divergent timeline stemming from "Element: Earth" and "Element: Fire." To every world, there is a lost heaven. With the weight of the worlds on their shoulders, the young warriors must fight to ensure their own survival in an unstable world.
--Reverse Rebirth: All of the above (all AUs, incorporating the "Gwen 10" what-if episode as a basis for the Ben 10 canon) and D.N. Angel, American Dragon Jake Long, Jackie Chan Adventures, Mai HiME, and Mai Otome. A world split off from the True World, and the elements have been reversed. Few of the True World's heroes are still fighting, and even fewer remember how the world is supposed to be. Magical boys, a henshin heroine, a dragon/human, and a secret organization must fight to protect their world, while the Avatar has already saved his.
JLAC: DCAU, Teen Titans (loose AU), Power Rangers, Powerpuff Girls, Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z (AU), potentially Gargoyles and Danny Phantom. Two very different heroes discover they are each other's last living family, and they forge an alliance between their groups. And who would have thought such a big fuss could be made over Superman providing a voice in a videogame adaptation?
