November 18, 2007: ON HIATUS!
I just spent seventy-one days hiking the wildernesses of Colorado and Utah, and now I'm on to some other business. (To kathyt222, fictacious-thejunkie and xBREAKiNGFREE -- my non-reply isn't due to lack of interest, but lack of time. Forgive?) I'm not sure how often I'll have access to the Internet, or indeed any computer. Shocking! However, do know that both my HSM and my HP/BtVS fics are in my thoughts and being scribbled about in my notebooks, and hopefully I shall someday pick up where I've left off. In the meantime, keep reading and writing! Make the good stuff happen!
Welcome to the profile of the Amazon Queen Zara Ziti -- formerly known as Kendra A., known in the real world as simply Zara, and enjoying the internet because she has the gall to stick "Amazon Queen" up front.
JUST POSTED: the sixth chapter of my High School Musical fic, Be Who We Are. I never figured I'd be writing fic for Disney Channel movies, but hey. The heart wants what it wants. A friend gave me the HSM DVD as a gag gift and the rest is, as they say, history. I fell completely in love (Zac Efron needs to marry me and have my babies), and a week later I fell completely sick and had several days off from my typical grueling schedule to put my fic idea down.
Currently I have three Harry Potter fics posted: Underground (complete), Long Hot Beautiful Summer and One Whole Star. I realize it has been WAY too long since I updated either of the last two, but I promise that they are not dead. (Just... resting. Pining for the fjords. Lovely plumage!) I also have one much darker fic a-brewing, but it's all ideas, no words yet. You'll just have to wait and see.
A bit about me...
I've been a Buffy fan since 1999, which is also when I first started reading and writing fanfiction. I got into Harry Potter before it was a world-wide craze... and I read Chamber of Secrets first. I love shopping, shoes and sarcasm.
More later. If you're good.
I'm no longer adding fics to my Favorites List, as said Favorites List is quite full. Instead, I now have a C2, "Suitcase Full of Dreams", to which I add all the fics I like. I read primarily for Harry Potter nowadays, but depending on my mood I also read for Bones (Booth/Bones, Angela/Hodgins, gen), Buffy and Angel (anything Willow-centric, various het, gen), the new Doctor Who (The Doctor/Rose, gen), Firefly (Mal/River, various het and slash, gen), Gundam Wing (1x2, 2x5, various slash), Hairspray [2007 (Tracy/Link, various het, gen), High School Musical (Troy/Gabriella, various het and slash, gen), Psych (gen), Smallville (Clark/Lex), and Veronica Mars (Veronica/Logan, various, gen).
My preferences when it comes to Harry Potter: I'm a fan of many different degrees of Abused!Harry fics (at least I'm honest about it), Snape-mentors-Harry fics, what-if-Sirius-had-found-Harry-before-PoA fics, any fic in which Harry finds people who love him, fics with interesting plots, slash, decent crossovers (I have found a spare few: the Matrix, Buffy, and Firefly), Evil!Dumbledore fics, Wonderful!Dumbledore fics, people realizing that yes Hermione does know everything, Severitus Challenge answers (it sounds like a disease and watch out, it's contagious), realistic coming-out-of-the-closet fics, far-fetched storylines that start becoming plausible because the fics are SO BLOODY LONG, sex, inventive magic, and wow this list is long, I'll probably be adding to it. As far as shipping goes, I'll read almost anything provided it's Harry-centric. No particular preference when it comes to het vs. slash. Personal favorites include HP/SS, HP/HG, HP/GiW, HP/FW/GeW, HP/DM, HP/RL, HP/NL, HP/NT... If I keep going I'll list everything.
What I will (almost) never read: MPreg. Crossdressing fics. Very very dark fics (i.e., those that center around a character death, or those in which Voldemort wins and all the good guys resign themselves to a horrific existence as sex slaves for the Dark Lord and his Death Eaters -- or the equivalent in any other fandom). Drabbles and/or very very short fics (I personally believe that single chapters should always be between 3,000 words and 10,000 words each. I must continually make an exception for this rule when reading HSM fic, which drives me nuts -- what's with all these 300-word chapters, people?).
I'm sure there's more, but I'm getting boring, so I'll stop.
Cheers. Enjoy the fic.
Don't be discouraged! The theater club needs more than just singers, it needs fans, too! Buy tickets!
