Happy new year, everyone! "Dusk" progress so far:

INTERLUDE II (30 percent. Appx. final words count: 4500 words)
I'm down to 30 because it's going to be longer than planned. I originally estimated about 3000 words, but now I think I'll finish around 4000 to 5000.

Arc III, Chapter 1 (25 percent. Appx. final words count: 11000 words)
Not much progress since early December.

Plotted, but I have not work on this part yet.

Yes, I already know how to finish this arc. I just have to get there. sigh...

So yeah, my work is slowing down and I have finally found the spark to write again! I really hope this mood will last longer this time.

Like I said, I'm active in DA and the SasuSaku FC in NF forum. You can find me there to chat anytime!

Recent mood in the manga makes me want to write again (SS is going canon, woohoo)! I really want to write something canon, but sadly, I don't pay enough attention to the story line to create something like that. I'll just leave it to the many talented writers out there.

Now... let's get back to work (writing Dusk and not this totally-unrelated-but-still-awsome-AU-plot that's been plaguing my mind... Grr. Stupid plot bunnies...)

I'm still alive! Haha. I'm active in DA and the SasuSaku FC in NF forum. You can find me there to chat.

Although, I'm still struggling with Dusk. I'm working on it... presently I already have 1,700 words for the next chapter. The rest is either in a rough draft or in my head. No, it's not a writer's block... just lack of concentration. So okay, maybe I'm in denial. haha.

My job demanded a lot of attention and my brain is too fried up to be able to think something complicated like Dusk. I don't want the quality of my writing to decrease, I'd hate myself if I do that just to get some update done. I love Dusk too much to tarnish this story with bad filler and unthoughtful plots. Some of you might already figure it out that I like to actually get somewhere in every chapter. I won't just post one scene and leave you hanging for weeks. I don't like it, because with the level of subtlety in Dusk, you'll most likely miss the bigger picture.

Let me tell you a little bit about how I write. Writing a story is like having a conversation inside my head. Yes, I'm serious. Sometimes I can hear the characters talking, their voice so clear, I swear I hear them talking. When this happened, I write smoothly without stopping. Sometimes they are whispering, I can only catch bits and parts of what they are saying (the rest is up to my creativity). Sometimes they spoke in puzzles, I need to figure it out before actually writing something. Sometimes they are mad at me, and refused to talk. When they stopped speaking, I need to coax them with a lot of inspiration (like fanarts, good fanfictions, etc.).

Presently they are either whispering or not talking at all. I suppose they are mad because they think I have abandoned them for my new job. Hey, don't blame me, I get paid for that job, not for writing fanfiction. Oh shit... I hope they are not getting madder at me for saying that. Come on guys... I need money to eat. I can't write with an empty stomach!

Sasuke : "Hn."

Sakura : "..."

Kakashi: shrug and read Icha-Icha

Naruto: "Just give me more Ramen!"

Orochimaru: chuckles evilly.

See...? They're not talking (except for Naruto, but what he said was totally unrelated).

I wish I have more time to relax and just enjoy life so I can listen to them better. I miss my young care-free days... sob

Note: This one is completely out of the blue. Based loosely on "Eternal Soul" or "Millions of Tear Drops" by Yuana Kazumi with influences from Twilight and other stories. Supernatural themed (I've been reading too much vampire flicks lately). Although this story has nothing to do with vampire. My first high school AU, first suspense, and first smut. 1. Pieces of Heart (M) - Naruto Fandom, AU, SasuSaku, Multichaptered

Uchiha Sasuke (24) vowed to become a prestigious psychiatrist so he can save his brother from being locked in the asylum for the rest of his life. What he did not expect, however, is to meet Sakura during his internship in Konoha Mental Hospital who quickly captivates his attention to the point of annoyance. But who'd have thought that Sakura, the dangerously skinny, long pink-haired, and uberly moody young woman with striking green eyes and angelic face is a highly monitored patient. Now Sasuke has to deal with the fact that the woman he possibly love... has at least three different personalities.

2. Tempered (M) - Naruto Fandom, AU, SasuSaku NaruHina, Multichaptered

This place is The Facility, where all those genetically modified killing machines are made and trained. This is where failure means death and running away is not an option. Well... let see how a pink haired undead, a dark haired demon, a blonde kyuubi, and a x-ray visioned girl could managed to break all those rules.

3. Shinigami (T/M) - Naruto Fandom, AU, SasuSaku, Miniseries

Inspired by "The World Ends With You". The rules are simple: survive for 7 days and your wish will be granted, those who fail will be erased. When Sasuke woke up with no memories, he was in for the death game. The only way out is to trust a pinknette who claimed they are both already dead.

4. Blacklisted (M) - Naruto Fandom, AU, SasuSaku, ShikaIno

Alternate Universe. Based on true story. Sakura, Ino, and Shikamaru are the inseparable trio in Konoha University, but that perfect world is about to change. Shikamaru was found dead on the ground after jumping from the 4th Floor balcony of the University. Worse, the media accused him of stabbing a professor before he committed the 'suicide'. Ino was devastated, but Sakura believe none of it. She was sure that Shikamaru was the victim. There is a dark and twisted conspiracy going on the University that rooted deep into the goverment. Angry and vengeful, Sakura realized her only chance to clear her bestfriend's name is by making a deal with the powerful Uchiha family, while being completely aware that the family has their own hidden agenda. That's how she met Uchiha Sasuke, and that's how her peaceful life turned into a life-threatening situation. The situation got worse when the people behind Shikamaru's death had started to target her back...

Things to note from the lastest chapter:
When Sakura said "take me with you," I was reffering to the canon "good bye scene" in the original Naruto series.
"There is no such things as good and bad, only human makes it so" is a modification of a quote by William Shakespare. It's supposed to be "thinking" instead of "human"
Notice that neither Sasuke nor Sakura said "I love you" yet.
Kakashi was talking about 'the society', hinting that there is a settlement for Devourers somewhere out there.
Notice that I didn't say they 'make love' or 'have sex', but instead, they 'mated'. I think this is more appropriate for them.

The things that inspire this fanfiction:
1. Eternal Soul by Yuana Kazumi (The basic plot came from here. A great manga with distinguishing artwork. Complicated plot line and beautiful romance:squeeeaaaalll:) // more info // read online //
2. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (The high school theme and the title "Dusk" came form this novel. I haven't started the second book.)
3. Naruto Shippuuden 2nd ending (Aluto: ~Michi~ to you all) The high school theme, Iruka as homeroom teacher, Neji as Karate Captain. It was just so suitable!
4. Remember That Name! by Tenshi no Hana-chan (A beautiful Sakura POV inspired by Shippuuden 2nd ending.)
5. Various fanfics by angel-puppeteer (the dark theme and the M rated scenes)
6. Kingdom Hearts by Square-Enix and Disney. A really cool action-RPG ("I have been having these wierd thoughts lately...")
7. Dead Famous by Rozefire (The implied humor, story lenght, story format, etc.)
8. Transcending a Dynasty (A great Inuyasha fanfic that I can't fine anymore. I heard the author took it out.)
9. D.grayman: the idea of Hyuuga family came from the Bookeeper from this anime/manga. Recording lost history is just sexy .
10. Angelic Layer by CLAMP (Ino torturing Hinata... Just reminded my of Icchan)

Questions are in order of category:

1. Sasuke’s betrayal to Orochimaru is not the first?

Yep. I’ll tell you about that further down the story.

2. Why did some missing people returned?

That is Sakura’s request to Sasuke. Like Sakura who can heal almost anything, Sasuke have a special power as a Devourer which is still unspecified. For now you can think that he has the power to ‘reset’ the existence of the souls (the limitation of this power is not yet specified). Sasuke can return the victim soul as if nothing happened to them. He rarely used this power because he hates humans. This time he did it for Sakura.

3. Why did everybody else comeback except for Neji?

First everyone came back because of Sasuke's power. Logically, there are 3 speculations on why Neji did not return:
1. It is because Sasuke is not the one who ate Neji
2. It is because Sasuke thinks Neji as a threat to his relationship to Sakura.
3. Neji did not actually die... yet.

4. Why are some people remembering the missing people?

Shikamaru remembers Ino, TenTen remembers Neji, and Kurenai remembers Asuma (that is why she was moody). See the pattern?

5. Why Hinata remembered when everyone forget?

Hinata’s case is slightly different with Shikamaru and TenTen’s. This will be explained further down the story.

6. Is this story going to have a happy ending?

Since 'happy' is relative, I would only say that I am a sucker for a 'happily ever after'. So rest assured, I will make it MY happy ending. For all its worth, I don't consider Death and Separation a happy ending.

7. Why do you skip a lot of scenes?

3 reasons: The event is not very important, the event can be mentioned in another event, and the chapter is getting too long.

8. Why did Sakura leave with Sasuke and the others?

The Haruno Sakura I introduced in the earlier chapter is a fake. She is actually Uchiha Sakura, Devouress, and mate to Uchiha Sasuke. After Sakura remembered who she really is, it is only logical for her to return to where she truly belongs.

9. Why did Sakura forgives Sasuke so easily for what he did to her friends and family?

Sakura’s memories as Haruno Sakura (from childhood to recently) are false, so her friends and family are also not her true friends. Her real friends and family is Sasuke, Kakashi, and Naruto. After she remembered who she is, Sakura only thinks of her life as Haruno Sakura as a very sweet dream. However she still holds warm feelings towards her fake friends and foster parents so she made a request to Sasuke to ‘reset’ their existence.

10. What the hell is these Arc(s)?

Arc is a segment of the story that focused on different events and issues. Dusk is planned to have 3 to 4 Arc depending on the reviewer's response.
Look at this diagram below to make it easier to understand:

1st Arc (C to D) is where this story starts, but actually time-lined near the end of the whole story.
2nd Arc goes way back (A to B). It is time-lined in the very beginning of the story, explaining Sasukes' and Sakura's human background.
3rd Arc (B to C), is the continuation of 2nd Arc, telling a story about their first years as Devourers.
4th Arc (D to E), picked up where we left off in Arc 1, making it the conclusion and the ending.
Well, what do you know.. it's actually not so complicated, ne?

11. What are Dimmed and Negative Souls? Are there other type of souls?

Like we named our foods, Devourers also have names for the type of souls they eat. Some are healty and others are not.
Dimmed is a soul belongs to a near death humans, they can be either of old age or mortally sick. The soul contains very low energy.
Negative is a tainted soul that belongs to a human who commited a cardinal sin. The soul contains a strong negative energy.
Pure is a soul belongs to a human that has noble traits such as altruism and bravery. The soul contains a strong positive energy.
Neutral is a soul belongs to a human with balanced positive and negative thoughts. This soul contains a normal amout of energy.

12. Are you going to update?

Yes. I have every intention of finishing this story! Although I don't know when I will update... I simply can't work on this story regularly. I am a very slow writer. I only write when the inspiration comes. I don't hesitate to delete everything when I don't like how it turns out. I check and double check everything. I let a chapter sit for a few days before deciding if it's really worth publishing. On top of that, reality of life is a major distraction this time around. If you decide to stick with me after reading this, I can't even say how grateful I am.
