Author has written 3 stories for Superman, and Star Wars. I'm obsessed with Superman and Star Wars. What else is relevant here? I'm not a very social person, sort of a hermit really, so don't expect too much of me, though I'm very friendly if approached (or PM'd, which I have just today (4/9/07) figured out how to do). My username, Aurnien, used to have some sort of meaning but I have long since forgotten what it is, if you're wondering. At any rate I have been using it for somewhere between five and eight years and it's now sort of...an identity. I like identity fic — mistaken identity, revelation of secret identity, personality exploration, how words (foreign-fictional language, e.g. Kryptonian, or not) define a person, &etc. — quite a lot. It takes me a very long time to write. I used to be terrified of letting anyone else see my writing — still am, if I know you in person — but here, where I no know one, where this is a place for me to simply store my fanfic without worrying about what anyone thinks of it (I like reviews, but neither expect nor ask for them, since I write for myself and no one else), this is a good place. Still, I have to plan everything out in advance, incorporating new plot bunnies as I go, writing and rewriting and editing again and again. I have very high standards for myself :P Consequently it takes a long time for me to post anything here, unless I'm deeply inspired for several days on end. If you're impatient, don't wait up, but put the fic on "fic alert" and forget about it until you get that email. I do that a lot. If you'd like some idea of what you'll find in my writing, presently or in the future: I love Lois/Clark, Superman identity revelations, Jimmy and Clark friendship, alien yet human!Superman, Superman/Contact (by Carl Sagan); Lord Vader, Star Wars AUs that bring all the Skywalkers together, Anakin/Padme, Force sensitive! or Imperial! or hero worships Skywalker&Kenobi!Han; subconscious revelations and tapping into the collective unconscious, desperate private soul-baring emotion and terrifying rage; Tatooine, geology, mysticism, surrealism particularly in visions or dreams that spill over into waking life (see Dreamflood); and of course identity fic and crossovers. And I now have a new fandom, Firefly. That's what I write. What I read is the same, plus quite a lot: Cthulhu mythos, The Dark Is Rising (by Susan Cooper), Lawrence of Arabia, Smallville (Lois, Clark, Pete, baby!Clark), Anakin/Han, Qui-Gon/Maul (don't ask), Valjean/Javert (really don't ask), Sirius/Snape, Dumbledore/Snape, Ron/Hermione, dark Tom/Ginny, Jimmy/Clark, Richard/Clark, and crossovers and alternate universes galore. I'm thinking about making a themed recommendations page, based purely on my personal likes, but don't expect it anytime soon. What I am writing now are a Star Wars AU and my own personal epic Superman fanon. The former fixes the end of ROTJ, which I believe should have taken place on Tatooine, as the saga began, and takes into account what I think is the Skywalker heritage — mystical, mythical, savage, native to Tatooine — I think Shmi Skywalker was kidnapped into slavery from the Sandpeople into human society. This is Dreamflood: the Son of the Suns returns to his homeworld only to drown in an increasingly surrealistic flood of dreams and visions. The Superman fic, Nativity, is the first in a trilogy. I love the Christopher Reeve movies with all my heart, and hold Reeve and his Superman in the highest respect and awe, but like every fan I wish things had been a little different. I want to tell the story of Superman my own way, realistic and archetypal — mythical — at the same time. I'm not sure if I can achieve such a high goal, but I'm willing to try. One last note. I'm also a fanartist, not an artist in any sense but only someone who draws when the mood seizes her and doesn't let go, but a number of people have told me they were quite impressed with my drawing. I draw (in chronological order, earliest to most recent) Harry Potter (not anymore), Star Wars, and now Superman. You can find these at deviantArt. Right now I'm working on a picture of Lois wrapped in Superman's cape that you can find in the Scraps section. | |||||||||
