Be sure to check out my new advertisements for stories (they're in the linked titles). It's pretty much my new cure (cough)distraction(cough) from writer's block. You can see others for my Batman Begins fics on my Blonded account, linked above.

NOTE: All of my Newsies, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Mummy stories can be found here. If you're interested in reading some of my one-shots from other fandoms (such as The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, X-Men, and The Count of Monte Cristo), please visit Brunette, Inc..

THE MUMMY

"I've never had crêpes suzette," he blurted suddenly. The fearful gaggle glanced at him strangely, but he continued to stare fearfully at the crowd. "B-before I die. That's what I want to do."
~Jonathan, Tramps and Thieves

IN PROGRESS
And Love Thee After. An AU adaptation of Shakespeare's Othello, starring Ardeth as our favorite Moor and Beni as his sinister antagonist. So far, I've loved writing this story; Othello is my favorite Shakespeare play, and I love the way the characters are paralleling the original storyline. Right now, it's probably my most-recommended Mummy fic.

The Lady and the Tramp. The sequel to Tramps and Thieves, starting up the morning Gretchen gets back to Cairo from Hamunaptra. This is my second go at writing this story; I decided that my original idea for the story wasn't functioning as well as it could, and I wanted to get Gretchen more involved in an action/adventure plot (because, let's face it, she pretty well avoided danger in the first one!).

COMPLETE
Tramps and Thieves. The original. After reading Lord knows how many rendition/personal adaptation fics, I finally decided to write my own. The antiheroine, Gretchen--a selfish prostitute in Cairo--accidentally gets involved in the raising of Imhotep.

NEWSIES

"Shut up, Davey. Shut the fuck up. You're so freaking stupid, you know that? You think dyin' is somethin' noble--well it's not, alright? Maybe it is in all those candy-ass books you read, but in New York--on the streets, nobody dies a hero, alright? You die too fucking young with nobody to remember ya. Do you want that? Do you really think you want that? Because a month from now, nobody'll remember you was even here. Nobody'll say, 'Thank God for Davey--what a saint!' That's dyin' in New York City, David. Welcome to the Big Apple."
~Jack Kelly, Hellie 'a Brooklyn

IN PROGRESS
Kings of New York. I decided this story needed something--well, pretty much, everything needed to be changed. So here we have, basically, a completely new story with the same title. Jack, Spot, and David's stories are told within the same, interlocking plot: their lives after the strike.

COMPLETE
Alleyway Legends. This is, rather simply, a nice story. A group of orphans in an alleyway swap stories about the great Jack Kelly that bear a striking resemblance to Arthurian legend.

Club Ten. This story was never my favorite to write, but it's definitely turned into something. It's probably not the first fic I would recommend to you, unless you're willing to suspend your disbelief and hang on for the ride. A modern story, Club Ten takes place at a college, focusing on a strange sorority known for its wild, mysterious girls. When David agrees to help one of the girls in bringing the truths of the Club to light, he accidentally brings about a fatal occurance that will change his life--and his friends'--forever.

Golgotha. Another personal favorite, Golgotha is my personal homage to Memento and Christopher Nolan. The story is told in a reversed sequence, beginning with Jack being murdered and ending with the reason why. I definitely recommend it.
NML Fanfic Awards: 3rd Place: "Best Narrative" (2007)

Hellie 'a Brooklyn. When I decided to revise this story recently, I thought I would have to change a lot. I was surprised to find that I still really enjoyed the way it was originally written; it's still my personal favorite. When David's affair with Spot's lovely girlfriend is made public, the bonds between the Lower East Side and Brooklyn are broken, igniting a gruesome gang war. Will love truly conquer all, or is it about to destroy everything?
NML Fanfic Awards: 3rd Place: "Best Romance" (2006)
NML Fanfic Awards: 3rd Place: "Best Completed Story" (2006)
NML Fanfic Awards: 3rd Place: "Best Villain - Spot Conlon" (2007)
NML Fanfic Awards: 1st Place: "Best OC Story" (2007)

Infidele.Of the stories that I have written, this one consistently remains one of my favorites. If I can say so, it's one of the few stories that uses a Mary-Sue effectively: by keeping her in the background and focusing the attention on the canons. Set years in the future, we find Jack Kelly very much the same person he was. The fun of carousing with a married woman, however, comes to an abrupt end when he discovers her husband is a familiar figure from his past.
The Banner Fic of the Month (April 2005)

Love Story. Another fic that I'm really not very proud of, Love Story proved to be something of a disappointment, I think. While it's certainly sweet at points, and has a refreshing view of David, I think the story fails because it isn't what the title claims it is. Stepping away from what it was built to be while being written, however, it's not a bad story altogether. The format gives a unique perspective, as it is told from the point of view of the girl involved while she writes it down. A girl is offered ten dollars to "fall in love" with David. Of course, she gets more than she bargained for when she takes the bet.
NML Fanfic Awards: 3rd Place: "Best David Story" (2007)

Prince. After reassessing this story, I found that I am actually rather proud of it. After I finished it, I never read it again until recently. I barely remembered the idea--Spot had a baby, blah, blah, blah. But I must admit, it's much more than that. The baby is not so much a focus, but a catalyst. He shows why the great Spot Conlon cannot afford a weakness. A good, quick read. I do recommend it to all the Spot fans.

The Proposition. Another story I enjoyed quite a bit, The Proposition is a Jack Kelly three-shot a la Infidele. Set a little over a year after the strike, Jack comes to terms with growing up when a wealthy woman offers him fifteen hundred dollars to be the biological father of her child.

Scum. Here we have my first ever Racetrack fic. Writing from his perspective really scared me at first, but now I'm rather proud of it. Scum adapts the story of Henry Hill's time in the Mob to Racetrack's. The story is intentionally seemless, so that each chapter picks up at the exact moment that the last one left off (with the exception of chapter 10). Racetrack is offered freedom from prison and certain death if he breaks the sworn code of silence and rats on his best friends.
NML Fanfic Awards: 3rd Place: "Best Racetrack Story" (2007)

Twenty One. And even though I disliked writing Club Ten, I did a sequel. I will say that this is exceptionally better than the first, with a few more explanations and some great scenes, specifically between David and Felony. If you breezed through the first one, I highly recommend giving this one a try. Three years after the events of Club Ten, Felony plots revenge on the scattered accesories to the crime.
NML Fanfic Awards: 3rd Place: "Best Mystery" (2007)

Virgin Eyes. After several unsuccessful trials, I finally did a decent romance. Virgin Eyes is one of the best stories I have written, and I recommend it if you're looking for something to read. Not being a romance-reader, I had gotten fed-up with all of the rich girl-newsie stories in the fandom. To be fair, I'm fed-up with romance in general; so when I decided to write one, I knew I wanted to use a fandom cliche and make it worth reading. I think it turned out very well. Ursula Wellington knew what was expected of her, and she knew Skittery was not part of the plan.
NML Fanfic Awards: 2nd Place: "Best Skittery Story" (2006)
NML Fanfic Awards: 2nd Place: "Best Romance" (2007)

Yeah, Well I Hope You Die. This just might be my personal favorite story. I love characterization pieces, and this one gave me a chance to figure out Skittery. As a background character labelled by one line ("glum and dumb"), we're given a lot of flexibility with him. I just wanted to take him and put him in a Holden Caufield situation--the absolute randomness of a below-average day.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN

"I've known women. And I had found in all my pleasurable and unpleasurable knowings of them, that they were but a harmless distraction from the only true love I have ever known. The sea is my mistress. She does not love because she cannot love; she can be sheer lusty pleasure or the absolution of painful torture. And I had it in my head that there would be no lady governing my heart but that endless expansion of sapphire blue. But I have been proven wrong. Elizabeth is the sea."
