The writer
Hey. I'm butterflie. Sort of a silly penname, I suppose, but I've had it since 2003 and I'm a bit loathe to change it now. And just to get it out of the way: I'm twenty-five, I'm gender-confused, and I live in the United States. I also obviously like fanfiction. A lot. I've been into it since early 2000, when I first discovered it while looking for gundamwing images. Actually to be precise, some friends and I googled "wufei's head" and a gundamwing slash fanfic is what popped up... Woo-hoo, corruption. I've never quite been the same since. Err. Not that I'm complaining.

As regards to fandom...
Fanfic preferences, well... I have them of course, but I'm pretty open-minded about most things. I like both slash and het, and over the past few years I've developed a huge love for genfic. I fully sympathize with those who say there isn't enough gen in fandom. To me, there can never be enough. (So why do I still write mostly slash/pre-slash...? Even I don't know.) I highly adore angst, and also don't have a problem with most kinks. Pretty much the only things I stay away from at all costs are mpreg, genderbending, and certain pairings that just don't sit right with me.

The early days
I have an older account on here; if you are interested in reading incredibly bad gundamwing fanfiction, you can check it out at the ID 12443, penname Twilight Nuriko. In regards to fic deletions: I rarely delete old fics that I hate, because I know what it's like to remember a fic you used to be fond of, decide you want to read it again, and go back to find it gone. I regret deleting the ones that used to be posted. While I'm not going to bother reposting them, I'm willing to send anyone who wants one copies of old fics, provided that I still have computer copies available. Read and Review?
My review policy pretty much is: I don't. In the past two years I've given out maybe five reviews (if that), and two were merely to point out minor errors. I've become really disillusioned with this aspect of fandom over the years, and now I no longer bother. Don't take it personally. Trust me, if I favourite your story, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Don't be fooled by the amount of favourites, I don't favourite even half of what I actually read.

So I story-alerted your fic...
Yeah, I know. I'm horrible about updating. I'd say I'm sorry, except, well, I'm really not. Other than that mild lingering sense of guilt. But if you can't handle waiting months or years for an update, or perhaps the possibility of never getting an update, simply don't read the story. Personally, I'm always glad of the chance to have a partial story than to have no story at all, but I know not everyone feels that way. I do try to finish all my stories, and the ones I know I won't ever finish I make sure to mark as discontinued. Anything else, I still intend to finish if I can. Eventually. Someday. I just seem to have hit a huge writing slump, and hate forcing my writing. It always comes out horrible.

Horizon Road
It's... iffy. It's not marked as discontinued, because I still have a huge fondness for the first two chapters. But I lost the first draft of the third chapter when my word program screwed up, and the second one, the one that's posted, never felt quite the same. It sort of killed the story for me. But I'd like to salvage it, if I can. I do, however, have bits of the fourth chapter written. You can find them under lock at my fic journal.

Rubicon
I do actually have the story plotted and outlined. I estimated it out to be a rough eight chapters or so. I deviated from my outline a bit at the end of chapter two though, and then realized something I needed to change, so I need to get off my lazy ass and fix that up and get on with writing the damn thing. But unless I just lose all interest in writing fanfic, this one should probably be finished one day. In the far, far future.

badfic the first
This is nothing more than a joke fic I wrote for a friend, and then it sort of got out of hand. I don't remember which of us suggested I post it here, but then it developed a semblance of a(n awful) plot, and... yeah. Maybe I will, maybe I won't, but I don't think anyone will be heartbroken if it's never finished.

Sortilege
This is being rewritten, on and off when the mood hits, and when I have the time. The rewrite is being posted under the title Stigma, currently posted at my fanfiction journal only. When I finally manage to finish it I'll replace the original Sortilege chapters with the new Stigma ones, and add all the new chapters of course.

Latest News
Most of my formatting in my fics has been completely borked over the years thanks to ffnet's stupidity. I'm probably not going to fix it. I'd really recommend my site instead, it has the most up-to-date versions of my fic anyways.

At some point, I'll probably be going through Departure and taking out all the horrible Japanese. I re-read the fic recently and realized it's not quite as bad as I remembered, if you ignore the Japanese and the song lyrics and the utter out-of-characterness.

So yeah. I'm not dead (:

Have definitely taken on the rewrite of this. New chapters will be posted at my fic journal while the rewrite is ongoing, as I'll consider them rough drafts. When I've finished the full story and polished it up, it'll be posted to my archive of our own account, as that's where I'm mostly moving.
