Demented Insane Spirit (DIS) I'm a proud member of Anzu's Angels YIM: crystal.colour Reason for pen name: Originally, I wanted something that was unlike anyone else's name and something that was long. I'm not actually that insane, but my humor stories tend to be a bit...different, for a better word. I think that my name reflects my humor stories best and as I started out as a humor writer, I can't bring myself to change my pen name, no matter how much I want to. Everyone knows me by this name and I feel it's best to keep it as it is. Time for a more thorough update! :D As the majority of the people on the site, I am female. I’m seventeen, going on eighteen in July. I used to be a huge anime freak in junior high, but not so much now. I love to write, whether it be fanfiction or original fiction. I used to be in chorus as a soprano and would still be if not for my deplorable skills in sheet music reading. I’m an amateur photographer and I doodle a lot, though I’m not sure I would consider it actual drawing. I read a good deal but have cut back on it lately since I have to dig to find a really good book that isn't totally smut. I love classical books, though, like To Kill A Mockingbird or A Tree Grows In Brooklyn. Oh, and I love music of all kinds. I really enjoy piano music, unlike many people my age, and I love almost any kind of rock except for hard metal or screamo. Overall, I am an extremely laidback person. It takes a lot to get be upset. I hang out with pretty much every person, as I am in no particular clique myself. I’m fairly easy to get along with. I love to laugh and enjoy life as it is rather than worry about senseless things. I’m not wealthy – never have been, never want to be – and grew up in an unconventional neighborhood with an unconventional family. Because of that, I’ve seen a lot more than most people and acknowledge the evil side of human nature readily and without complaints. I don’t tolerate alcoholics, especially the abusive kind, nor do I tolerate snobs or know-it-alls. I am not one of those people that think simply because I have more education or something that someone else does that it entitles me to something else over my fellow human beings. We are equal. Simple as that. I started writing on FFN because a friend of mine showed the site to me. I ended up writing on the site longer than her and while she dropped off, I stayed on. I started out a horrible writer and eventually became better through the infamous flamer, Sam aka Rabidmoose, and through other authors/readers that critiqued my work. I don’t write many chaptered stories and if I do, I take my time with writing them. I try to update at least every month on a story unless I get bad writer’s block on it then it takes me awhile. I used to write mostly one shots and humor, with the occasional chaptered story floating around. When I started to dabble in drama, I lost my touch in humor and it only returns every once in a very great while. I don’t necessarily write for reviews, but it is very discouraging when I get quite a bit at first and then slowly, people stop reviewing. I used to read sooo much fanfiction on here, but I’ve noted a steady decline of interest in the YuGiOh fandom and seeing as how the community is littered with yaoi, I more or less gave up. I occasionally check out fanfiction of people that have reviewed my stories, as they’re more likely to be writing the same fandom, but I don’t usually read any chaptered stories. When I get really sucked into a story, the author stops writing and that drives me absolutely c r a z y !! The story usually has to be absolutely wicked awesome before I start following it. One thing I nitpick when I read a story is details. If it’s just dialogue, I won’t read it unless someone specifically asks for feedback. Another thing is if the characters are completely OOC, with the exception of a humor story, I’ll more than likely ignore it. I guess I’m kind of hard to please in that way, but it’s just how I operate. Lol, but I am a picky reader when it comes to published books, too. One would think that, because I write so much and whatnot, I’m going for an English major. Originally, that was my plan. I was going to do that or enter the Creative Writing program at my college. After awhile, though, I realized that getting a job as an author wasn’t a realistic goal. The career is far too uncertain and with how low my income is right now, I knew I had to find something that I could depend upon a bit more. After taking a government class and then a sociology class and getting downright outraged and then arguing against Locke’s theories in my political theory class, I settled on a Government major. I loved everything about it and because it’s a liberal arts degree, it would give me a broader range of careers. Right now, I’m aiming for something in the county courts system, preferably a public defender or a probation officer.
