Winter Strolls is finally uploaded!

News 10/28/09:

Hey, everybody, it's me, gip-k. I haven't written any fanfiction in more than two years. I remember promising to do a Beautiful Broken Existence re-write, andtwo Smallville fanfictions but neither of them materialized. I abandoned BBE after chapter five. I've read over it more than once now, and I really liked the concepts, but in the end I realized the story wasn't really about Kenshin Himura from Rurouni Kenshin, and he became more of a character that I had conjured up that just happened to have the same name. It's a mistake that I notice a lot of writers making in their writing. They end up using fanfiction as a crutch but really they're just designing their own worlds and concepts around borrowed character names.

As for the original BBE story, I am re-reading that now, and again, I'm impressed with some of my concepts, but still bugged by the things that bugged me originally- the geographical and scientific inaccuracy. I also noticed that the characters were out of character to the point of being highly amusing. It won't be the first time that I've made characters that were over the top (I'm guessing Meet Tokio is a great example) but Togiretogire Shan Jitsuzon (original BBE)really took the cake.

The Smallville fanfiction may still happen, but more than likely not. I'm starting to feel it's time to say good-bye to fanfiction in general, but somehow I feel like I should write at least one more story, something to sort of "finish things off" once and for all. A grand finale for all the people who stuck it out with me in the past, or something like that.

I have a story that has never been read before on this site, which is actually the first Rurouni Kenshin fanfiction that I ever wrote. The title is Winter Strolls and I wrote it all the way back in 2002 (more than seven years ago). I'll need to of course do some editing and break the book up into chapters. I have uploaded a bulk story in the past, but I prefer to break the chapters into individual documents. But be prepared to see Winter Strolls up here in the near future.
