Hello, muchachos y muchachas, invisibles and visibles...
First of all, as we start 2011, I have also changed my pen name. Formerly MizHowlinMad, I've changed the name for reasons all my own, but for those of you who know me as Miz, well, feel free to use that one all you like. :)
I write these stories purely for fun and the enjoyment they give others. Been writing fanfiction of sorts most of my life, from the earliest time I could hold a crayon. Many of my early experiments involved Flying Ace Snoopy running sorties in his Sopwith Camel over the besieged Smurf Village to break the Gargamel blockade, and that might give you an idea as to the wonky workings of my crazed mind. Over the years I've been attached to many fandoms, although I've only been writing "seriously," and I use that word loosely, for a little over ten years. Most of my earliest "serious" works I have since sacrificed to Loki and Eris in a fit of retribution.
Right now...going on two years...The A-Team has been by no. 1 fandom. It's quirky and exciting and unpredictable and chaotic, just like I hoped I would be when I grew up. Now that I realize it, I'll probably never grow up. (Any guesses as to why Murdock is my favorite character?) Some of my other fandoms over the years have been The Young Ones, Blackadder, Beauty and the Beast, Redwall, Lord of the Rings, Peanuts, Robin Hood, Classic Star Wars, Ed Wood movies, Indiana Jones, Xena: Warrior Princess, Pirates of the Caribbean, District 9, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., and Ranger's Apprentice. The funny thing is...I didn't watch TAT until I got much older. Mom and Dad always said it was "too violent" when I was little, though they let me take a plastic sword and pistol with me for my pirate outfit on Halloween.
Some of my fictional heroes: Joliet Jake and Elwood Blues, Karl Spackler, Cameron Frye, Vyvyan Basterd, Lord Flasheart (woof!), Ripley, Autolycus the King of Thieves (hell, any character Bruce Campbell plays), Joxer the Mighty, Edmund Blackadder, Lt. Reginald Barclay, Lord Bowler, Han Solo, and of course, H.M. Murdock.
If I could live in any time period, I'd choose either Nevada in the 1880s or my homeland, Eastern Europe, in the High Renaissance.
In what little spare time I have I enjoy sparring with padded medieval weapons, trying progressively spicier ethnic cuisines, canoeing, learning dead and/or invented languages, rescuing dogs and cats, randomly harassing obnoxious people on cell phones, and trying to make the world a kinder and gentler place. For all the violence in the world, I'd really prefer it the other way. Hope for peace, but prepare for war.
My job is actually fairly boring...librarian. Like it would be anything else. But it gives me the perfect excuse to be around books all day, right?
I always welcome comments from readers (that's what I write for!) and I encourage like-minded beings to drop me a line anytime.
As my avatar says: use your imagination, or you can borrow mine! Want to read my non-fiction work? Head on over to my blog at. You'll be glad you did.
