Author has written 3 stories for Tokyo Mew Mew, and Naruto.

Updated 01.03.2009 (still alive)

(Something you should know about me: every six months I look back on myself and am vaguely disgusted at my sheer n00bness; most people don't grow and change at quite the rate I've been trying to for the past several years, so my tastes shift and evolve with remarkable speed. Someone whom I may have worshiped a few months before I now view with sympathy and vague distaste for their portrayal of canon. Case in point: FastForward Sarge. She's an incredibly sweet person, as are all her friends, and not a bad writer, but in infiltrating the RYFG club I not only left indelible mental scars on myself (I shouldn't have tried to better understand what makes a rabid yaoi fangirl tick) but also got a bit too close to the people I was trying to study objectively. The authors I revere now may not be those I respect in the future; the circles I move in now may be forever abandoned tomorrow. This sounds like an incredibly self-centred over-articulate emo "musing on the complexities of life", but I wanted to offer some sort of explanation here for the n00bness of my past and probable future, and for whatever offences I may have committed. I'm sorry, and thank you.)

Hi everybody, my name is Kohikari (originating, interestingly enough, from the fic that brought me to ff.n--hurrah for JadeWing/BlackLillian); I also go by Hinohikari, Judy-chan, Chiridena Tyne (for when I'm trying to be slick), That Psycho Midget Chick Over There, etc.

That cat in the picture? She's mine. Her name is Candace. We call her Candi. She likes to launch offences on my ankles for no good reason.

To elaborate on the subject of JadeWing, she is the one who got me obsessed with fanfiction with her lovely Transcending a Dynasty trilogy. (After three or so years of quiet fandom/stalkage, I am member #55 of her Official Fan Club. Go me.) She is awesome; though her early works tend to be fraught with quasi-Sues, her most recent work (on Fictionpress, and revising TaD as Dynasty Lost on dA) is patently incredible. Check out her profiles on ff.n and f/p. And her deviantART account under BlackLillian. Go there. Now.

I have a Fictionpress account, with a bunch of randomness. Find it at http://www.fictionpress.com/~kohikari . There is poetry (mostly--or all--emo, haven't checked it in a while), emo fiction (two or three one-shots, I think), and at least one honest-to-gods multichapter story that only has one chapter up and was doomed to remain that way almost from the start. Sad, isn't it? Anywho, my more recent work--scripts for Playwriting class, a random short story centred around cauliflower--has been shunted into my dA account.

Said deviantART account holds some literature and a contest entry. I can't seem to get my hands on a scanner--heck, I don't even know how to work one--so the contest entry is likely to be all the visual art up from me. (There's a scrap, of course, to prove just why I'm waiting for a scanner: because I suck at digital media.) Check it out, http://hinohikari.deviantart.com/

Time for the requisite intro section, format shamelessly plagiarized from JadeWing's profile:

Age: Nineteen in February. Look like a twelve-year-old.
Education: Finished campaign as a theatre major at Boston's only public arts high school, the awesomest of awesomes Boston Arts Academy.
Gender: Female. (Just in case you haven't guessed already.)
Blogs: I'm not really a bloggy person. Not to mention the fact that even after all these years, blog is still the most ridiculous word. (Shouldn't it sound normal by now? and "vlog", that's even more bizarre...) I suppose my LJ account applies (http://kohikari.livejournal.com/); previously, the journal function on dA, and before that, my page on FreePress.
Music: Total fan of Rurutia and Every Little Thing. Otherwise, I dabble in various Japanese, English, and other (e.g. Emily Loizeau) music.
Favourite Books/Authors: I cut my teeth on Anne McCaffrey and Tamora Pierce. These days I spend a great deal of time at Borders hanging around the Manga, Comics, SFF, Children's, Literature, and Speculative sections (the latter of which cheerfully mixes fluffy Wiccan and angel literature with hardcore crazy courtesy of Aleister Crowley and the Order of Wearing Silly Pyramid Hats). Current favourite authors are Jasper Fforde, Sarah Rees Brennan, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, and Brandon Sanderson.
Favourite Movies: Theatre teachers crammed Sundance down our throats: Lola rennt (Run, Lola, Run, 1998), Sånger från andra våningen (Songs from the Second Floor, 2000), Cidade de Deus (City of God, 2002). Also, Studio Ghibli. And, um, good movies? I'm not really a movie person...Tin Man was good, or was that a miniseries?
Favourite Anime/Manga: I am become an elitist. XD;; Recovering Narutard, former rabid Inuyasha fan, was once a closet Yu-Gi-Oh! fantard. In the wake of the Itachicaust (01.24.08 never forget) and my subsequent painful break-up with Naruto canon, the lovely crack of D.Gray-man has supported me. (Also, we were right about Hoshino Katsura being female--and on top of that, she's hot.) I've remained appreciative of Fruits Basket; it's a damn good manga, even through the shoujo screen of bubbles and flowers. FMA is also a classic (what is it about shounen manga written by women?).
Most Inconvenient Bad Habit: Flunking out of senior year despite having broken a school record for highest SAT scores.
Grievance of the Moment: I'm trapped fermenting in my parents' house, despite our increasingly volatile relationship; nothing yet on the job front, and I'm floundering in an attempt to retain my Adams scholarship. That emo aside, I can't find my longan twig oh noooooes!
Joy of the Moment: Finally have regained internet access, have discovered treasure trove of hard-to-find music on imeem, am trying to catch up with the rest of my life. Also, D.Gray-man has the most adorable fandom ever, and it's growing at an exponential rate. With the anime licensed for dubbing in America, there goes the neighbourhood...but here come the pretty pretty statistics.

FANFICS:

--Was working on a Teen Titans/Inuyasha crossover quite a while ago, but a friend 'borrowed' the outline. Meh, it wasn't a very good premise anyway.
--Myuu Amaranth: Now redone and named simply Amaranth, it had an OC Mary Sue base that I've been working off with extensive setting-building. The only two chapters have gone through such extensive edits on the forum I've been showcasing it on, MMPU...well, it's slightly frightening how nitpicky I can be. (Yeah, it's never gonna be finished. RIP.)
--The Good Person of Tokyo: Was planning an Inuyasha fic based off of Bertolt Brecht's parable play The Good Person of Szechwan. Lord knows where that went. It'd've probably sucked anyway.
NEW: Was thinking too much, so one of my various half-baked ruminations on Naruto ended up typed before I knew it. Hence, Value. No idea why I wrote it, but it's posted so I can't take it down now for sake of posterity. Ick. Please to forgive the fail.

FAVORITES:

Too...many... (dies)

OBSESSIONS: Formerly Inuyasha, Naruto, currently the immense cuteness of D.Gray-man. In terms of pairings I stick to supporting canon and the one OTP I've managed to be tackled by; other than that, I hold no grudges and refer to the misattribution to Voltaire, "I do not agree with a word that you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." I have nothing against any pairing (or threesome...square...et cetera) as long as it is written well, although sometimes incest and significant age differences (not to mention mpreg) squick me out. I am not a yaoi fan, or a yuri fan, or even a het fan; in order for me to care about a relationship, I'll first have to care about each character individually, and then also care about their unique dynamic together.

NEWS: The Kohikari of the internet has been sort of dead for a while, for many many reasons including but not limited to schoolwork, the Itachicaust (01.24.08 nevar 4get), my life imploding, and a two-year nervous breakdown coming to a head. I'm trying to get back on my feet, with LJ (stats and friends), MMPU (a whole family I've been neglecting), FF.N (with a whole lot of unfinished business and a half-dozen projects besides), and maybe even dA (...I've been sort of AWOL--but wouldn't you, at the spectre of 600+ items in your inbox? flail). Also, out of sheer desperation in June I turned to the TV to try and find something to while away the time with; now I have to re-wean myself come autumn, after years of avoiding the brain-melting box. Unfortunately, this will be more difficult than before, as I have developed a bit of a crush on Jon Stewart. headdesk

ALSO, pertaining to the Amaranth story: it is almost definitely dead and buried, but anyone still interested in it is welcome to check out the summary of how the story was supposed to go at http://mmpu.smuncensored.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=24603 ; some sweetheart offered last year to write the story for me, so I actually managed to get into words what I had wanted to happen. Tentative closure, anyone?

Ciao~
