God Complex - An adventure set during the return to Atlantis aboard the Daedalus after "Brain Storm." Here's a preview:

The alarm that woke them in the morning was not the one on the bedside table; it was a klaxon blaring out a call to general quarters. Conditioned responses dictated their actions: three minute showers, hastily donned clothing, and into the corridor with wet hair. He wore his patchless black uniform, she her jeans and pink sweater from yesterday, proof for the astute observer that she hadn't slept in her own cabin. A rough kiss that could have been initiated by either, then they separated—she heading to the infirmary, he to the engine room.

"McKay to Novak. What's happening?"

"Sensors report two ships exiting hyperspace," came the frantic response of Dr. Lindsey Novak over his earwig. Rodney adjusted the volume as she continued. "One is a Goa'uld ha'tak, and the other appears to be one of ours—a Daedalus class if I'm reading this right."

"Why wouldn't you be?"

"There's something weird about their energy signatures. In fact, there's weird energy signatures all over this region of space."

"Weird—we're all going to die," Rodney said, "or weird—huh, how about that?"

"Weird—unusual."

Rodney felt a headache form and chewed on a handful of espresso beans from his pocket. They were better than any analgesic he'd ever tried. He barked his first orders before the engine room door had fully opened, paying no heed to the annoyance his taking charge caused Novak. He held up two fingers, not as a peace sign, but to remind her that as far as he was concerned his two Ph.D's meant he outranked her.

A Goa'uld ship meant...what, Lucian Alliance? Rogue Jaffa? Former System Lord clinging to the last shreds of his power? Rodney could think of no reason for any of them to risk an incursion this close to Earth. But then he never claimed insight into Milky Way politics, or politics in general. He only knew who the bad guys in Pegasus were because they were always shooting at him. Daedalus rocked from a powerful energy blast. These Goa'uld were bad guys, then.

Unnamed Project - A crossover with another TV series, the identity of which I am withholding until publication.

The letter fell from Jennifer Keller's hand and floated to the floor. Her boyfriend bent to retrieve it and resumed his place beside her on the bed.

"I had no idea you were adopted."

"No reason you would, Rodney." Jennifer squeezed his hand. "It barely ever crosses my mind, so I never talk about it."

"I'm no expert, but are out-of-state adoptions normal?"

"Like I know?"

"Aren't your parents from Wisconsin? Why adopt from the West Coast?"

Mom was a California girl. They met, married, and adopted here before Dad's job took him back home."

Standing, Jennifer led Rodney over to her desk. It felt silly, crossing the room holding hands, but his fingers interlaced with hers provided a reassurance she needed but felt too awkward to ask for. It calmed her. Ha! Rodney McKay calmed her.

Closing the lid on her laptop did not stop the music playing over the speakers, a concerto by Shostakovich Rodney said. He'd been telling her how he used to play it when the SFPD seal on the envelope caught her eye and derailed what had been shaping up to be a truly enjoyable evening.
