Often a writer's mind functions like a giant food processor. taking in thoughts and ideas from everywhere and then mixing and matching the pieces until something new (or at least unrecognizable) emerges. On the rare occasions when we're actually able to trace something directly to its source, it's only right we acknowledge it. -Timothy Zahn, Star Wars: Allegiance
There are some things so serious you have to laugh at them. -Niels Bohr
Koolkame's Statistics
Initials: D.B.N.
Gender: Male
Why I Write Fanfiction: Because I love the whole subculture and I need the practice for my original works (if you think I have a lot of fanfic ideas, my OW's are even more ambitious). Plus, it's my hobby (or maybe hang-up); some people fish, I write.
Aspirations: Writer (primarily novels), more specifically the next Stan Lee.
Influences: Janet Evanovich (the Stepanie Plum novels that are both funny and dramatic, my bibles basically), Terry Pratchett (Discworld novels for sheer zaniness) and the occasional lesson in quantum physics, K.A. Applegate (Animorphs, Everworld books for teen drama with paranormal highlights), Jonathan Kellerman (the Alex Delaware psychological murder novels and where I get my kick for digging into fictional character's heads), J.D. Robb (the "In Death" series because I dig mysteries and tough but also vulnerable women), anything, anything Star Wars especially if it's done by Karen Traviss and Steve Zahn
Handle Origin: I wanted to be Kamesennin (Master Roshi from Dragonball) on my Hotmail account, but that was already taken, about ten times in fact. So I thought about Kami (ironically Japanese for "god"), but I wanted something of my own, something... cool, no Kool, and not just Kami but Ka-me. And the rest is history. BTW, I learned from the anime Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi that kame means "Turtle" in Japanese. I like turtles, especially the adolescent shadow-warrior kind. And no, it's not a Klan reference or anything just because I'm a goober from the woods.
Orientation: Straight, just so you know. Scared of yaoi, in other words.
Habitat: Northeast Mississippi
Wrting Style: When I see a movie or play a game, I'm immediately thinking up the sequel(s) and how to make it better. Same with my own writing. Take "Dark Gossamer Wings"; I wrote the ending as soon as I started on chapter two. I'm all over the place, unfortunately, getting ideas left and right while trying to finsh what I've started. Because of my schedule, I do all my proof and beta-reading myself since I'm only on the net two nights out of the week, if even that much. Though I work primarily in cartoons and don't deny I never grew out of them, I have many interests. I've never met a Law and Order episode I didn't like, for example, and That 70's Show and other sitcoms are big influences on my writing style.
Projects in the Works
W.I.T.C.H. Dark Gossamer Wings (NTY) - An angsty character study with a plot that explores the relationships of the cast in ways they couldn't do on Saturday morning. From Will to Phobos to Susan Vandom to even Blunk there's a little something for every fanbase.
The Fairer Sex (NTY)- A less stressful sequel to DGW that uses the age-old gender swap ploy for fun and maybe a little self-discovery. Since an original character from DGW plays a major part in this it won't even be started until the first fic is finished.
Never Too Young
A crossover universe that begins with the titular fic and will expand into other animated shows and films primarily of the science fiction/fantasy/action/adventure molds. Inspired by Vathara's "Urban Legends" CU, this is my biggest story project and something I'm particularly excited about. The primary storyline will augmented by prequels and side stories with the main fics carrying the "Never" portion in the front of the title and the others with their own distinct titles. Check back soon for an updated list.
Summer of Justice Arc: A season one for the NTY universe.
Book One: Never Too Young - (Danny Phantom/The Life and Times of Juniper Lee/W.I.T.C.H./Ben 10/American Dragon Jake Long) The start of NTY.
Book Two: Never Impossible
Book Three: Never Enough
Prequels To Never Too Young
The World's Fury - An Avatar the Last Airbender and W.I.T.C.H. crossover set during both shows' Season Twos.
The Body Imprisoned, The Heart Freed - The Life and Times of Juniper Lee and W.I.T.C.H. crossover set a few weeks before "Never Too Young." Formerly called "Guardians and Protectors."
Both Sides of the Horizon - American Dragon/Gargoyles/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/various.
Several other stories like Dark Gossamer Wings and The Fairer Sex are part of the Never Too Young Continuity. Check the story synopsises above for the "NTY" mark that connects them.
D.J.I.N.N.
A next-generation W.I.T.C.H. fic series starring a new team of Guardians. Diana, Jamila, Ingrid, Nestis and Nola are being trained by the best and are ready to take on any challenge-whether it's fighting inter-dimensional terrorists or baby-sitting Irma lair's rambunctious son.
Way To Home - The first story where the new Guardians meet and earn their wings.
A Coat is a Coat - An afternoon of goofing off foreshadows a future where a family is made with a garment that is more than a coat.

Forever Falling - A W.I.T.C.H. story co-authored with strayphoenix. Coming soon.
