(2) Convient plot devices. This includes, but it is not limited to, locked closets, unlocked doors, slippery floors, school trips (especially those to France), car accidents, and accidental eavesdropping.
(3) The unnecessary use of foreign languages - especially Japanese. While I do enjoy the effect of using other languages, in no circumstances should that left untranslated be crucial to the understanding of the story. Furthermore, just because it's not written in English doesn't mean it isn't subject to grammatical corrections. I warn you now that I'm conversationally fluent in French and functionally fluent in Japanese.
(4) Character nicknames. No, "Kao" is not Hikaru's affectionate nickname for Kaoru. He doesn't have one. His name is Kaoru.
(5) Convenient explanations for characters/events/situations left unexplained by the original author. Face it - nobody knows what happened to Kyouya's mother; don't pretend like you do.
(6) Using the manga canon when you haven't actually read the manga. When you write Anne Sophie as calling her son René and not Tamaki, I can tell.
(7) Summaries ending in "What happens when...?"

Fandom: Ouran High School Host Club

(A) To my knowledge, there are but eight Ranka/Kyouya fics in existence. I wrote three of them. Two are not worth mentioning. The sixth is Fallen by Redex, which you can find in my favorites. The seventh and eighth are by far my favorites and are called SKIN and In the Absence of Any Definable Reality - Five Things Which Never Happened to Fujioka Ranka and Ootori Kyouya (the longest title I've ever seen as well). To sum up my attachment to these two stories, let's just say that SKIN is verging on being the greatest Ouran fanfiction I've ever read. Much of the inspiration for my own Ranka/Kyouya fics came from it.

(B) Hikaru/Kaoru/Kyouya/Tamaki - Melody of Porcelain and Childhood Fantasy and Outings. These two stories brought me into the world of the family foursome.

(C) A Trip Gone...Wrong?, because it is the only fic I've seen that so far as mentions Nekozawa/Kaoru, and for that earns my approval.

(D) What I call BOOM, HEADSHOT but really has no title - another Ouran/Death Note crossover, and a good one at that.

(E) Coincidences, because just as the summary says, "Ohtori Kyouya is more than what he appears to be."
