Ghost Hunt:

Don't believe in ghosts? Neither do I.

In cases like this, it turns out that sometimes it actually pays off to listen to smart people. You know, the ones who always nag about how you shouldn't judge the book just by its cover. The anime, even if it has a cliché title, is simply marvelous.

Ghost Hunt is a comedy/horror flick with the re-appearing cast of seven hunters, each with their own unique character, abilities and weaknesses. During the first few episodes, we are slowly introduced with how exactly ghost hunters, well, hunt ghosts. Meaning - we see the equipment, the process, the complications, learn a couple of basic rules of deduction. The first three episodes offer no ghosts (well, no visible ones at least), but I honestly thought they were a splendid intro to what comes next.

Ghost Hunt may not exactly satisfy those looking for horror-horror, since this anime doesn't quite fall under that specific category, still, I must say some later arcs do tend to make a chill find its way down your spine. To say the least, it's thrilling to watch how every fact is finally put in correct order to make a fine puzzle.

The art is superb, the soundtrack (in my personal opinion, that is, since some people claim I have a rather uncommon taste in music) is very satisfying. Sadly, it seems that the series is going to end at episode 25, leaving the viewers with a humongous pile of unanswered questions, seeing how JC Staff doesn't seem to be working on “Ghost Hunt second season” for the spring season. Actually, as far as I know, Shakugan no Shana movie is their current biggest objective, but it's hard to believe that they won't be releasing anything else this spring.

The only thing I can hope for is that, perhaps, the directors succumbed to fans' pleading, Ghost Hunt shall have a second season or at least an OAV that it undeniably deserves.
