Quick Intro:

Name: Oasis Ruby Blackmore

Sex: Female

Age: Nineteen

Whereabouts: Colorado, USA

Vocations: Playing big sister to a rambunctious, younger brother; being a junior in college, doubling in psychology with a biology minor and English with an emphasis in creative writing; editing books for the visually impaired and otherwise disabled; acting all grown up . . . most of the time

Avocations: Writing, people-watching and -analyzing, entertaining ideas of romance, dreaming about running my own pit bull/black dog/big dog rescue center, watching and criticizing television and movies, baking sweets, grooming homeless dogs, reading, listening and singing along (badly) to music, driving my car, cleaning, photography

Commonly Asked Favorites: Italian food, tardigrade, Pride and Prejudice (2005), Chevy muscle cars, George Michael, Fight Club, green, "Booty Man" by Tim Wilson, Supernatural

Crucial Detail: I'm an updating sloth. Really, it takes me months to get consecutive chapters/stories up and posted. Forgive me.

Personal Conundrum: I'm dreadfully embarrassed by my older (and some of my newer) posts and wish no one would read them. At the same time, I like reminiscing on those mistakes that made me the writer I am today and don't have the heart to edit/delete them.

Disclaimer:

Nothing in my stories is mine except the typically clichéd plotlines and, occasionally, the characters of whom you have never before heard. I receive no monetary gain from the posting of my works on FanFiction.Net.

Putting a disclaimer in every, single post is redundant redundant and is, therefore, a waste of my time.

Recommended Fics:

The following are the few fanfictions of which I am particularly proud, for those of you who don't want to filter through all my stories (personal favorites are emboldened):

Reading Predilection:

Favorite Fanfictioneers:

I only recently discovered two of the best authors on this site, both of whose stories thrill me and move me and inspire me in ways I never really thought fanfic could. Sure, there are other writers here, who have written fics that come close to such wondrousness, but in my heart of hearts, I am absolutely and immutably star-struck by the works of the talented Candle Beck and GMTH; and I recommend them to anyone looking for brilliance.

Romance:

Love/hate is what got me started on FanFiction in the first place. My first real (relation)ship was Ron/Hermione (ah, the good old days), and my enjoyment of opposing factions coalescing into one grew from there. Now, the main love/hate fics I read are Casey/Chuck, KyCart and Dasey, though I dabble in other pairings, as well.

I picked up best friend ships after I read a book about some quirky girl ending up with her equally quirky best guy friend. Immediately, I wanted more, so I found a few different pairings that suited my fancy.

And then came M/M slash, which is my current addiction/guilty pleasure. I love corrupting bromances and reading way too much into strictly platonic moments. Nowadays, I mostly stick to over-thinking the dynamics between the leads in buddy cop, buddy criminal, and, okay, buddy anything movies, books and television shows. While I do enjoy a few man-on-man, nemesis pairings, most of my favorite ships are, as you'll see below, M/M buddy slash. They're delicious.

Family and Friendship:

I used to avoid non-Romance fics like some kind of plague, but since I've started reading Dean-Sam stories, I've learned to appreciate these genres and all they have to offer. It's like a whole new world of human interactions has presented itself to me. *shock*

Friendship fics are especially appealing when centered around the characters who make up any of my buddy (and some of my love/hate) ships, as my mind turns them into pre-Romance with ease.

Humor:

I'm not necessarily picky about my comedy (LIES!), but I don't usually read fics with Humor as the only genre. Granted, there are a few I can remember right now that had me busting at the seams, but for the most part, I like to pair this with Romance or Family.

Never:

Nature agrees that these acts are unforgivable: 1. M/F incest (any closer than third cousins), which is icky and wrong; think of the deformed babies! 2. Nonconsensual, inter-species relations, which are biologically unsound and should be frowned upon just as much as 3. Relations with infants and/or children - WRONG!

Femslash isn't wrong, but it's just not my cup of tea.

"M-preg" makes absolutely no sense and shouldn't logically occur to anyone.

Rape, abuse, eating disorders, drug/alcohol addiction, cutting/suicide, emos, and Twilight-inspired vampires are also very irritating.

And I hate when boys cry like girls (1). Just saying.

Finally, though I may mock a ship and/or debate a shipper who ships it, I can always understand why someone would ship it, and I try not to let a person’s choice in ships affect my opinion(s) of him/her.

Ships I Am Most Likely to Fanfictionize:

Key:

~Title~ = New fandom (listed in order of current obsession)

~ = New ship (listed in order of agreeability)

/ = Romantic relationship

- = Platonic relationship

Jim/Jack/Jane = Love triangle (or a sexual threesome - you decide) with Jack in the middle

Bold = Favorite Ship (or OTP, if you will)

Italicized = Ship I enjoy nearly as much as Favorite Ship

Bold and Italicized Enjoyable ship that conflicts with Favorite Ship

End Key.

~Supernatural (SPN)~

Dean-Sam (rarely Wincest, but still . . . *shame*) ~ Bobby-Winchesters ~ Dean/Castiel ~ Dean/Henricksen ~ Dean/Lisa (Obviously, I'm a Dean Girl.)

~House M.D. (House)~

House/Wilson (Hilson) ~ Foreman/Cameron ~ House-The Team (MMMBop, anyone?) ~ House-Alvie ~ House/Cuddy (Huddy) ~ House/Foreman ~ House/Cameron ~ Chase/Cameron

~Castle~

Kevin Ryan/Javier Esposito (Respo) ~ Rick Castle/Kate Beckett (Caskett)

~Chuck~

Casey/Chuck ~ Casey-Sarah~ Chuck-Morgan ~ Awesome/Ellie

~Bones~

Booth/Brennan (BB) ~ Hodgins/Zack ~ Hodgins/Wendell ~ Hodgins/Mr. Vincent Nigel-Murray ~ Hodgins/Colin ~ Hodgins/Clark (See the pattern?)

~The Mentalist~

Jane/Cho ~ Jane-Lisbon ~ Rigsby/Van Pelt

~Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Spaced, Anything Starring Nick Frost and Simon Pegg~

Nicholas/Danny ~ Shaun/Ed ~ Tim/Mike ~ Nick Frost/Simon Pegg (Fregg)

~High School Musical (HSM)~

Chad/Troy (Choy)~ Zeke/Sharpay (Zekepay) ~ Ryan-Sharpay ~ Troy/Chad/Ryan ~ Chad/Ryan (Chyan) (in a pinch)

~Drake and Josh~

Drake/Josh (should never be called "Brothacest" or "Stepcest," as those names are grossly inaccurate) ~ Craig/Eric (sometimes)

~South Park~

Eric/Kyle (KyCart) ~ Stan/Wendy (canon-tastic) ~ Eric-Kenny

~Grey’s Anatomy~

Derek/Mark (Marek) (yum) ~ Mark-Callie (It's cute!)

~Life with Derek~

Derek/Casey (Dasey) ~ Smerek-Smarti ~ George-Casey ~ Derek-Lizzie ~ Dennis-Casey ~ Derek-Edwin

Coming Soon:

Oneshots, oneshots, oneshots! I've got a bury of plot bunnies hopping around in my head, and now that I'm between semesters (and seasons), any number of postings is possible. The four fandoms with which I am most enamored are Supernatural, House M.D., Castle, and Chuck.

There's also the matter of the Bones crossover I've been wanting to write. This, according to How to Write a Murder Mystery 101, would require multiple chapters (or else a very long oneshot), and that's pretty scary for a procrastinator like me, who has studiously avoided all efforts more than one chapter long for going on two years. Right now, it's a toss-up between House and SPN for the combo, but in light of the aforementioned concerns, I'm still in the contemplation stage.

If you like what you read below, don't hesitate to send me a request for a story in any of the fandoms listed in the Ships I Am Most Likely to Fanfictionize section. I'd love to be prompted into writing by something other than my own obsession.

Update 5/30/2010: Due to some FFN error/change, what were once dashes in my stories have now become lonely hyphens. This is an unfortunate situation for everyone involved, as such flaws butcher syntax. Over the next couple months, I will be spending time editing the stories I enjoy most to include the missing punctuation (or some altered facsimile thereof). I apologize for any inconvenience in the meantime.

Enjoy.

~ Oasis

1. The Winchester brothers are the exception; I just can't seem to get enough of their angst. For an example of acceptable, male emotionality in an acceptably emotion-evoking situation, watch Part 3 of Supernatural's fantastic episode "Heart."
