Author has written 19 stories for Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, and Warcraft. I am a nineteen year old creative writing student at Nottingham University. I hope to eventually make my living from my writing, though I have a long way to go before that's likely to happen. I appreciate every review I get, though I'm especially grateful for constructive criticism. If you need a bit of CC yourself feel free to drop me a line; I love reading new stuff and reviewing. That Flight of Sparrows stuff can be found here (beware of spoilers). The blog includes drafts of chapters, plot notes, character discussion, chapter discussion... pretty much everything important enough concerning the story for me to want a record of it somewhere. Preferably somewhere my handy beta readers can easily find it. As I really miss the Pokémon fandom and happen to really love a few characters I left behind when moving on to WoW, I've been rewriting Plague. The earlier chapters have been polished a bit but mostly left untouched, save for the prologue which I juuust posted. I do intend on creating a proper website for this (after all, I have a lot of Bladesworn legends sitting about that I can't fit into the story, so it'd be nice to have a place to post them) but for the time being my focus is on posting the new chapters here and at The Pokémon Tower. Plague is not intended to be a gorey action sort of story. It just so happens that gorey action tends to fit in when your characters have sickles on their arms. Violence is also fun to write. Character interaction, however, is even more fun to write and will be prevalent in the fic. Action-seekers beware. Character Art I left my camera's power cable back at home when I moved to Notts for uni so I'm a bit stuffed where uploading new stuff is concerned, but here's what I already had lurking around: Shaaca: Full body profile, full body cutstyle w/ wings, full body cutstyle w/o wings. Tziir: Fighting Scyther. Random Kabutops: Torso/head. Kabutops Ranks Kabtaar - Top dog. The Kabtaar is expected to oversee every aspect of tribe life, from battle to healing, and actually understand everything he's watching over. The position of Kabtaar is decided by merit, not by bloodline, but once someone has gained the title they will keep it until death. This makes deposition particularly messy should a Kabtaar prove inadequate. Helniin - The Kabtaar's champion, selected for their battle prowess. Whether a Helniin is chosen for brute skill or tactical ability is up to the Kabtaar to decide. (Shaaca occupies this position in Plague - Aashnin is a personalised version of the name with additional meaning but equivalent power.) Djirnaar - Warrior elite. These are the intelligent, well-trained class of fighter that have passed a series of aptitude tests and earned the respect of their peers. (Plural: Djirnoi) Viritaar - Strategists. While lacking the combat prowess of the Djirnoi, the Viritoi are nevertheless valued for their minds. (Plural: Viritoi) Delfiir - Warriors who have proven themselves in combat. While they may lack the finesse of the Djirnoi, they make up the backbone of the Kabutops' military strength. (Plural: Delfiiri) Teliin - Kabu who have little combat ability but have shown signs of good tactical thinking. Potential Viritoi. (Plural: Teliinoi) Raakin - Trainee fighters with no real combat experience and very little social standing. (Plural: Raakinoi) Tmiirin - Kabu elders. Excluded from decision making and battle, they do, however, have a considerable amount of social standing. Generally, a Kabutops who has lived long enough to qualify as an elder will have the respect of everyone around them. (Plural: Tmiirinoi) Additional Terminology: Shiraan - Place of the sick. Tziir's tribe has their shiraan positioned in a medium sized alcove in the cliff face right up against the water, protected by standing slabs of stone. The healer Kabutops generally live in caves dug by the warriors into the cliff face quite high up. Ka'aan - The Kabu equivalent of a bed. It's essentially a shallow dip carved into the ground, often bordered with smooth stones and filled with sand for comfort. In the shiraan there are special ka'aan dug into boulders. | |||||||||||||
