Author has written 104 stories for X-Files, Pokémon, Last Unicorn, Trigun, Haibane Renmei, Tuck Everlasting, Corpse Bride, Misc. Anime/Manga, Legend of Zelda, Super Smash Brothers, Shadow of the Colossus, and Katamari Damacy.

(Some older stories may be signed with the old pen name). My name has absolutely nothing to do with the character Shad from Twilight Princess. It is a derivative of Shadow/Shadowcat, the name of a cat I once owned. A lot of Zelda fans think I named myself after Shad the character and they are mistaken, but I don't mind it too much because I like him.

Current Avatar: This avatar is cropped from a Legend of Zelda fan art painting of mine titled "Predecesor." It is my take on multiple games in the series taking place in differing eras with multiple Links and is, specifically, supposed to be Link of Twilight Princess paying his respects to the sainted Hero of Time.

About My Fanfiction: I've been writing fan fiction for a number of years and am somthing of an "old fart" at it.

My current main fandom is The Legend of Zelda. I have been writing stories for various titles in the game series since 2008.

The fandom I was mainly involved in before that was Trigun. I wrote stories for both the anime and the manga from 2001-2009.

My first fandom was Pokemon. Then there are a few other things that I've written stories for as the fancy struck me.

FANDOM THOUGHTS:

My Profile: Covers years of work – literally over a decade because I don’t want to clean out my archive. That means that some of my profile covers years of my life that I wish never existed and most of this is crap (everything before 2005 with the exception of the Haibane Renmei stories I consider pretty much poo). I keep it all up because I’ve met people who were nostalgic for my old work. It’s fun to laugh at, if nothing else.

Thoughts on Yaoi: It doesn’t float my boat. I have a few mild experiments on here. The brutal truth is that I used to be a tad homophobic and didn’t venture into yaoi-dom for that reason, and now that I have recovered from that unfortunate mental condition, I still don’t venture into yaoi-dom out of contrition for my past. I’m not good at romance in general, actually – even when writing the het stuff I know a little better. Sex scenes make me roll my eyes (even when I’ve tried to write them) and I have a low tolerance for schmoop, so I’m mostly a gen-fan and gen-ficcer.

Thoughts on Cats Who Have No Thoughts on Yaoi: I consider myself a faithful servant of my feline overlords.

Dark Fic: I enjoy it and try my hand at it. “Dark” is more than just a bit of blood and gore, though. There’s a certain….finesse. Sometimes, horror is in as much as you leave out as what you describe.

Alternate Universe: I like highly unusual stuff in this area, generally leaning toward the sci-fi end of the spectrum. I like Elseworlds stuff and things that respect canon character ages and species. “High School AU” is something I don’t touch with a 20ft pole, no matter *how* good reviewers may say it is. I dislike the stereotypes of that genre and disliked that portion of my life. I only read “high school” fic for things where the *canon* is set in a high school.

Zelda-Fandom Thoughts:

Link is: Brave, kind, heroic – and beyond that, pretty much whatever you want him to be. I find him a great character to write for because of this – a basic archetype upon which I can interpret and build.

Sheik is: Whatever you want him/her to be. I tend to like writing Femme!Sheik for a weird personal feminist reason, but I’ll read all Sheik-species.

Dark Link is: A shadow, a spell, a manifestation of Link’s sin and darkness. I don’t like reading fic where is depicted as a full-fledged person. I have no problem with it floating people’s boats, it just sinks mine.

The Legend of Zelda Timeline: Wow, we have an official one now. Cool. I’m still going to alternately obey and ignore it as I feel the whim. If you find the Timeline creatively-stifling, throw it out, rearrange it or do whatever you’ve got to do to tell the story that you want to tell. Videogames and fandom are meant to be *fun.*
