Author has written 22 stories for Harry Potter, Cheers, Misc. Books, Fairly OddParents, and Mad Men.

BIO:

I am 40-something, married with children, and live in Arizona. I love Harry Potter fanfic. My favorite ships include Draco/Ginny (but I'm very specific about their characterizations), Harry/Ginny, and Ron/Hermione.

SO WHO IS SUE BRIDEHEAD?

My pen name is a tribute to a character written by one of my favorite authors, Thomas Hardy. Sue is from 'Jude the Obscure', which was his last novel and in my opinion, his best. If you're old (like me), you may recall him from your high school or college recommended reading as the author of 'Far from the Madding Crowd' and 'Tess of the d'Urbervilles'. Hardy wrote romantic tragedies like no one else.

What I admire about Sue is her refusal to conform to society's rigid standards. Although not married to Jude, she does love him - she even sleeps with him and bears his children, a brazen act in Victorian England - yet she refuses to marry him, calling marriage nothing more than 'a license to love'. Here are a few lines from the film Jude, in which Kate Winslet played her perfectly.

Sue : Why are you looking at me like that?

Jude: Does it scare you?

Sue : No. I am not afraid of any man.

Jude: Why?

Sue: Because no man would touch a woman unless she gives him reason to. A touch or a look that says come on. If you never look, they'll never come. You are the timid sex.

I also love J.R.R. Tolkien, Jane Austen (or as my friend Jessica calls her, the queen of 19th-century fluff-!), J.K. Rowling, and Paul Scott. Almost any movie based on the works of these authors gets a 'thumbs up' from me.
