UPDATES
July 2, 2008 I will be a judge on this year's Genesis Awards. So once again, if you know if any good fics that deserve an award, go visit the Genesis Awards rules for fics written after January 1, 2006. Consider joining up as well, it's a good forum.
June 25, 2008 If you know of a good fic that deserves an award, please read the Genesis Awards rules for fics written after January 1, 2006. As of July 1 you can nominate fics.
June 17, 2008 Okay, well, I've decided to amend my BIG ANNOUNCEMENT. Rather than archiving all fanfiction here, I will only archive T-rated materials here, in accordance with the TOS of Fanfiction.net. This means that rather a lot of my stuff will be heavily edited here; eventually, all of these materials will be located at my personal site, http://tasha.sin-shadows.com. The list of fics below WILL be deleted shortly, and archived entirely on my site. In the future, heavily edited or T-rated materials will be put here, and everything else will be on my site. I haven't gotten very far on putting my fanfiction up on Nights With Bright Lights; it's going to be a chore, let me tell you. I apologize.
I have not been un-busy this last month or so; in fact, I'm working on a new fic but I don't want to talk about it because I will not be placing it here until I have considerably more of it written. This isn't so I can keep an update schedule, because that's not how I roll; rather, it's because the idea isn't quite solidified in my brain yet and I need to work the kinks out before I continue, and also need to replay a game in it's entirety so I can get the grasp of unfamiliar characters. Yes, this will not be a FF7 fic.
In the meantime, you can go read any of the stories in my favorites (most of them are full of awesome), and also check out the Genesis Awards Forums at http://genesisawards.proboards100.com/. There's links to great fiction of all kinds, as well as a wonderful community of great writers who love to share ideas. It's definitely worth signing up for a nickname, even if you don't post.
A finalized list of fics I will be deleting from Fanfiction.net in their entirety once I get them up on Nights With Bright Lights (This means that to read them, you will have to go there, or back them up now):
A Guy, a Girl and a Cave
Sex, According to Vincent Valentine
I'm Gonna Get You!
Love and PEACE!
The first three are being deleted because they essentially are just there for erotica's sake. The last is being deleted because it's only one chapter of an epic fic and it will go up on my site to be read or unread by whomever so chooses. This will be occurring within the month, so back 'em up now if you want 'em.
Finally, someone let me out of my cage...
Name: Tasha.
Age: 23
Birthday: 29 September
Quirks: I get angry pretty easily, I love role playing games, and I tend to call people I love "fucker." That includes the people who like my fics, friends and family. I also tend to write in AP style, which is something I'm trying to get out of. I was in the newspaper business for a year and a half and it took it's toll on me. I do not review very often; this is a massive shortcoming on my part. I apologize in advance.
Characters I love: Cid Highwind (FF7). Yuffie Kisaragi (FF7). Vincent Valentine (FF7). Reeve Tuesti (FF7). Red XIII/Nanaki (I prefer to call him Nanaki rather than the name Hojo gave him) (FF7). Seifer Almasy (FF8). Edea Kramer (FF8). Rikku (FFX but NOT FFX-2). Auron (FFX). Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean). WARNING: I AM PRONE TO FANGIRLING OVER THESE CHARACTERS IN RANDOM BURSTS OF CREATIVITY. PLEASE FORGIVE ME.
I hate Mary Sues. I do not, however, mind self-inserts. There is a big difference.
Music is my life. It really is. It's in my blood, it's in my mind and soul. I don't have the talent to write my own music, but I very much admire the work of musicians from a lot of different genres. It gets worked into my stories a lot, and you're just gonna have to deal with it if you wanna read them.
You take away the nights
With sights and bright lights...
My most frequently asked question: "Where do you get your ideas?"
Answer: I have no idea where they come from, they just pop into my head randomly and I exclaim "I JUST GOT AN IDEA!" to Cally or anyone else who will listen, who usually goes "DO IT!" And then I do, and you guys read it.
My second most frequently asked question: "Why waste your time writing fanfiction? You could be doing something original!"
Answer: Because I have, sometimes, problems coming up with original ideas. Sometimes I do and they don't pan out. Other times they do and they do pan out - I have several original works in progress. But mostly, it's because I love writing and will do it whenever I can, and I love that writing makes people read, seeing as it is apparently going out of style like whoa. So I write fanfiction to satiate my muse and to force you fuckers to read. Good enough
My third most frequently asked question: "Will you do a pairing of _ and _ for me?"
Answer: I do not do request fics. This is because I have very little control over the creative process - and I'm serious here. When I write, things pop out and I generally have no control over it. It's all my muse, baby. Occasionally a request will spark interest in my muse, but it rarely turns out as originally outlined. I also do not do collaborations, because my muse is apparently a picky son of a bitch who doesn't like letting anyone else have control over the fic - not even me. :( While I do not do collaborations and requests, I do occasionally do gift fics. If you want to become a friend enough to warrant a gift fic, well, you'll just have to exert the effort. :)
Edit: I feel, however, that I ought to add in here that I DO take story ideas. If you have an AMAZING idea and can't or don't want to write it yourself, feel free to shoot it past me. I can't say I will or won't use it, but it all depends on my muse. And it wouldn't be a request fic because I would just run with it - if you submit me a story idea, please don't feel mad if it doesn't come out the way you envisioned it. Also, I will not do pairings that involve minors in love (for my intents and purposes, a minor is anyone under the age of 16) with people of majority (except in a schoolgirl-crush sort of way), nor will I do bestiality.
My fourth most frequently asked question: "Who is your beta-reader? / Do you need a beta-reader?"
Answer: World, meet Cally. Cally, meet world. Cally is my best friend and beta-reader. I do not currently need a beta-reader, but if for some reason my fiction warrants the view of someone who I do not know, I will definitely be searching through my comments and seeing who likes my fiction and who doesn't. No offense, I'll probably pick someone who doesn't like my fics. They're more likely to be useful. :)
My fifth most frequently asked question: "Why don't you reply to PM's or reviews?
Answer: I, unfortunately, do not have the time to respond to the myriad of reviews and PM's that I get. I would love to be able to do so, but it's an unrealistic goal in my situation. I have a husband, two stepdaughters, a very needy cat, a job, a website, and a social life, as well as my writing and other artistic endeavors (which include a lot of cosplays for myself and other people, modding a Nerf gun, a webcomic, making Animated Music Videos, filming and video editing, and earning my journeyman's badge in my union). Occasionally I will reply to a review or a PM if it strikes a chord in me or I feel the need to clarify something, or if the person was asking a question, but I just can't do it. I'm sorry. Know that I read and save every review and PM alert that I get and that they mean the world to me. I promise.
