New year, new profile. Welcome to 2012, folks, and welcome to my New Year's resoloution- a drabble every day. This year, I'm working harder than ever to prevent the onset of laziness. Let's take a look at the vital stats, shall we?

Name: TheVulpineHero1, for as many years as it takes.
Sex: Male. Now ain't that a surprise?
Age: Older than I look and younger than I feel. Approaching twenty fast, though.

B/D: I'm a psychology student from England, which automatically makes me a little eccentric. I generally tool about in a beat-up trilby, a waistcoat, a bandanna and a greatcoat. I refuse all fashion advice, especially the application of sweater-vests, and I have three hundred trinkets with which to remember friends, family, holidays, and various times when I should have shown up but didn't.

This year, I'm keeping a focus on making my writing as tight as possible. Not a single word wasted is what I'm aiming for. I'm also trying to experiment a little more with the pairings I do; examining so called 'foe-yay' (darn you and your addictiveness, TVtropes!) is something I'd like to try.

What are my personal reservations? Well, no hard stuff, no family fics, no time travel, no yaoi and only ever use yuri if the fandom demands it (for example, Lucky Star and MLP.) Other than that, it's all good. I don't like grimdark as much as I like other stuff, and comedy reigns king, but yeah.

Why was I so lazy at the end of last year? Basically, I started to have a problem where I would write something and immediately despise it for about a month, and only then would I be able to look at it objectively and see there was anything good about it. This kinda slowed me down. A lot. It's gotten a little better since then, but I'm still having the 'eww, it's not special enough' reaction quite a bit.

Now for some handy subdivisions!

Pairings, fan characters and other assorted junk:

With regards to pairings, I'm not really a 'one true pairing' kind of guy, so I'm really not fussy. Generally, I tend to pick up a pairing (from friends who support it, generally) and then just sort of adopt it. Other than that, I tend to go with the ship carrying the most evidence.

Fan characters? Well, I had a few, once upon a time. I generally stay away from them nowadays, and only have them fill antagonist or bit part roles. The three major ones you'll find in my modern works are:

Captain 'Hal' Halloween: Appears in The Ballad Of The Gunslinger and The Cat as a somewhat incompetent antagonist. Relaxed to the point of ridiculousness, and more than a little dotty. Dislikes being called Halloween, as it attracts unfavourable comparions to other holidays. Insists he's the good guy, despite evidence to the contrary. Hasn't yet shown his intentions, but they appear somewhat...unique.

Oddy Cloudfoot: Appears in Speak. A pegasus pony and a surprisingly talented flier, he would much prefer to write poetry all day. Fills a bit part as a representative of Rainbow Dash's flying team. (Basically, I had one semi-well developed OC instead of having a whole team of faceless lackies hanging around. We'll see how that works out.)

Faust The Bat: Appeared in the titular story from the Sonic fandom. Said story is now very abandoned indeed, and I've no real plans to ever continue writing it, as it was quite terrible (from my current perspective). Took the role of a plot catalyst (read: almost-sue). Unlikely to resurface ever again, so quite defunct.

Drabble Collections Attempted This Year (and completion status)

Pink & Blue
Fandom: MLP: FiM.
Started: 1st January. Completion: 10/10. Finished 4 days ahead of schedule.
Characters: Rainbow Dash & Pinkie Pie.
B/D: Started to help my practice pairings in MLP fandom so I can progress with Speak and Draw easier.

Life Gives You Apples
Fandom: MLP: FiM.
Started: Started early because of huge boredom. 8th of January. Completed 10/10. Finished 18th.
Characters: Rainbow Dash & Applejack.
B/D: Again, practicing pairings. This time, the most popular (I think?) Rainbow Dash ship.

Missing Numbers
Fandom: Black Cat
Started: 19th January. Completed: 1/15.
Characters: Various.
B/D: Another Black Cat collection. Aim is to look at characters I wouldn't normally look at, more in depth. With a little more RinsxJenos than usual, to make one lucky reviewer happy. ;D

Other Stuff Planned This Year:

The Ballad Of The Gunslinger And The Cat: read over it recently, remembered how amazing it was. Of course, I feel like a jerk for letting it fallow for so long, but there were some problems I need to fix in the overall storyline, such as making it not go on FOREVER about nothing. I'll try and pick it back up this year if I can.
Progress: Chapter 16 started, and about halfway done. Still trying to get back into the swing of that writing style, though; I've done a pretty good approximation this far. I need to get good ol' Vinny back in there to get the laughs going again.

Pokemon: Nostalgia went down really well, considering I was a newcomer to the fandom; I promised to do something else, too.

Black Cat: Black Cat always needs more lovin'. I'll see if I can contribute a few things.
Progress: One collection underway!

Speak: Once I'm more comfortable with the characters, this one's full speed ahead.

???: Mystery fic, just for fun. This story is now in the process of being made, and it's going well so far. Be aware it's like nothing I've ever written before...I think.

(Yeah, I don't plan much. Sue me.)
