About Me: I'm a graduate student on scholarship attending East China Normal University (ECNU) for an M.A. in Chinese Philosophy while studying vocal music (mainly opera/classical) on the side privately. For the curious, I'm a soprano; quite likely a lyric coloratura fach. I also am an ESL teacher on weekends teaching primary school children English. I am due to graduate from ECNU in 2012.

My life's divided between music and academics; I'm incredibly passionate about both Chinese philosophy and vocal music performance and my time is pretty much divided between the two disciplines. My hobbies are the guzheng (a Chinese zither instrument), studying foreign languages, reading fantasy and non-fiction (sometimes), shopping/fashion, as well as writing both academically and for fun (fanfiction, obviously :P). I also greatly enjoy video games, eating and sleeping, traveling whenever my funds allow as well as shopping. I'm also a master procrastinator. Watch me. XD

I get asked this sometimes: no, I am not Chinese at all! I'm actually part-Japanese, which causes people to wonder why the heck I'm so dedicated to classical Chinese culture to begin with. In a nutshell, I decided to study abroad there on a complete and total whim in 2005, absolutely loved it, went back in 2007 for nine months, went back to America to finish my degree, got offered a scholarship and voila! I now live in China. I've also studied in Taiwan and, of course, have visited my father's home country of Japan which I loved.

Just an FYI: my studies are pretty serious business and there may be long pauses in what I upload, so please be patient. I am not dead, I have not dropped off the face of the planet, but I will be back eventually.

ABOUT MY WRITING: Please note: I write mainly for my friends. I don't write for the heck of it, and my fanfictions are probably dedicated to them or probably even involve them in some way (as they're gifts from my imagination to them and yes, their real names for the most part are used). I'm sure that if you don't like it you can read other stories (just how many stories are achieved on this site anyway?). But you never know, you may like it! If it's not too out of your league, try it. If you don't, that's fine. I won't be offended. Just know that I probably won't read any flames that are like, "OMG WHAT A DUMB IDEA UR SO STOOPID ELL OH ELL". Constructive criticism on my writing style, however, is most welcome. And if you don't like the genre, then... um... why are you reading it?

Ironically, in spite of the fandoms I write for, I actually don't like anime that much. I have a very few that I like (or in my adolescence I absolutely adored) but I actually don't like anime and don't watch it anymore, save those very few titles. I spent most of my time outside of fandom, studying or with my friends.

I am not anti-yaoi, but it's not my cup of tea. However I do kind of think that 3x4 in the Gundam Wing universe makes sense. You won't see me writing fics centred on it, however.

I don't beg for reviews. In fact, I don't care if you give me any at all, however of course they always make me feel good inside I don't need them to keep me writing. The only people whose reviews I care about are the people who the fic is actually dedicated to. If you're not them and you don't like it, then... well... it's not my problem. :D

BTW, if you're a fan of Severed Reality and have recognized Sharon Gladden and Regina Stewart from that fic in one of mine... well, they're two of my best friends IRL, and that are the inspiration for my own madness. Guess I've decided to be crazy also. Crazyness is contagious. And it's for all of them anyway, so :P

By the random chance you were wondering, zhaohuanshi is the Mandarin pronunciation of shoukanshi, or "summoner". Think FFX, if you will.
