Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have been an avid fanfiction reader for several years. I enjoy fanfiction from Twilight, Roswell, and Harry Potter just to name a few. I am fairly new to beta reading, but I promise that I will endeavor to read all submissions I accept in a timely manner. Be forwarned, I DO NOT SUGARCOAT! If I feel you need to re-think a chapter, just make a few minor adjustments, or do a complete overhaul before posting, I will tell you. If you are easily offended at critique, if you just can't handle someone telling you something you have written is crap, then I'm probably not the beta for you. However, if you can handle a beta who simply won't allow you to do anything other than your best then I think we will get along just fine. That being said, please remember that it is YOUR story! Though I will offer suggestions when asked, I may even nudge you along from time to time, it is entirely up to you how and when your story should continue or end.
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am very good with grammatical issues. I am also pretty good at catching spelling errors even without spellcheck and at catching those times when a word is missing, misplaced, or misused. I know the difference between 'then' and 'than', when to say 'your' and when to use 'you're', between 'there', 'they're', and 'their'. There is a place for 'where' and a place for 'wear'. I can tell 'to' from 'too'. And I 'know' when to say 'no'. Some people would think it's common sense to know the difference between some of these examples I've given here, but I've been reading fanfiction since somewhere around the year 2000. If the last decade of reading other peoples' works has taught me anything it is that even the best writers out there can make mistakes. I will also not be shy about telling you if I feel that you are overusing a particular word or phrase. Example: I like Twilight fics that revolve around Jasper Whitlock. Love, love, love Jasper Whitlock but I have noticed that the word "darlin'" at times is a tad overused in Jasper's dialogue. He's about a hundred and sixty plus years old people, I'm pretty sure he's got more terms of endearment than that in his repertoire.br /br /br /

When and if I catch any such errors in your work I will not hesitate to point them out to you.

My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
If I find that I really enjoy where a story is going, I am more than willing to let out of character moments slide to keep the story moving along. Especially if I didn't really care for the character that much in the original work. Although it is perfectly acceptable to have a few characters be a bit out of it for humors sake, or to have a big event happen that forces a character into a different mold, or even to exaggerate characteristics or personality traits to fit the story's premise one must remember that the characters should at least have some small bit of grounding in their original portrayal. However, I firmly believe that there is nothing wrong with drabbles, fluffy, PWP, or crack-fics just so long as you warn the readers ahead of time;)br /br /br /

Also, I sometimes suffer from bouts of procrastination. But I highly suspect that condition mainly applies to my own writing. Hopefully:)

Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I like the fluffy stories, I like occasional PWP, I enjoy crack-fics, but I absolutely love a well thought out original story. I like Twilight, Harry Potter, Roswell, Fooly Cooly, Fruits Basket, 28 Days Later, Red Eye, and Pirates of the Carribean fics just to name a few, but I am willing to beta for other categories than just those I listed here. But I must say that I will not beta a story where I am not at least a little familiar with the premise or characters. I don't shy away from the serious stories but I am not above reading fluff.
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Although I have read same sex stories before, I'm not all that into slash. While I don't mind a little boy-love or girl-on-girl, I don't want to read anything overly graphic. While details are good, there is a line between detailed and just plain raunchy. br /br /br /

Also, I DO NOT do Buffy the Vampire Slayer fics. I am thoroughly PRO-Vampire, even when they are sparkly, especially when they are combustible.
