|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hi there everybody!
Its the infamous GS here!
I've always wanted to beta for stories, and am so glad that Fanfiction.net has put this up to get my reading habits out there. I've always been an avid reader here, (a main reason why I don't get my OWN stories finished), and I can't wait to start beta-ing for an incredible story or author. If you want me to beta, please alert me. What you can expect from my beta-ing is-
A list of mispelled words,
suggestions for the author on sentence structure when I see fit
suggestions for the author on plot, covering up plot holes
suggestions for characters of an author's story
layout suggestions for the author's story
and more if you ask it of me.
I can't wait to work with YOU on YOUR story, to make it the next 1,000 review hit! Please contact me if you want my beta skills, I promise not to let you down.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have excellent reading skills, easily improved since the last time I've officially tested. I have to have at least above average college reading level and love complex stories. I'm also a grammatical person, and look through sentence structure carefully.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I'll miss spelling words when I skim over a chapter that doesn't interest me (which shouldn't be a problem since you are "hiring" me to read over your story). I might miss a plot hole, but its unlikely. The worst is that I might start trying to take over your amazing story.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I prefer writers that have a good plan in mind of their story, but really don't mind about those that are making it up as they go. Originality in setting, character placement (while sticking to the original Author's image of the character), and story line are serious bonuses. I do the following series:
Inuyasha, Hellsing, Bleach, Ouran High Host Club, Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist, Labyrinth, X-Men, and Teen Titans.
If I don't know the series, it wouldn't really be a good idea to ask me to be a beta for it unless I knew the characters.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I don't to yaoi, or yuri pairings. I would post my prefered pairings, but I'm open to wierd pairings, so please feel free to come to me with anything.
If you are typing like a five year old and use chatspeak in ANY of your stories (I WILL CHECK), I will say no immeadiately. At least be a mature enough writer to use quotations, periods, capitals, etc. You have to know a little bit of grammar, please.
Once again: If it isn't listed up in my preferred series, it isnt a good idea to recruit me, because I won't know the characters of that series unless I've seen the show and was interested.
One more note: Your chapter MUST BE. MUST. BE. At most, ten pages long. I'll even stretch and say 12. But if you hand me a HUUUUGE document file that well take me two weeks to get through, I refuse to get back to you. I have a life too. I want to write and sleep and eat and do normal things, not just sit and read through
