Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta-reader, I tend to be rather critical. I can be someone who looks simply at grammar and spelling, to the type of prose you use and whether if it suits the writing and story at hand, to someone who can totally vaporize it to molecules if you wish for that.

However, depending on how you wish for me to edit, that is how I will edit. I will respect your wishes as a writer, and edit it as you wish.

How I beta/edit:

a) I can go through line by line, and nitpick it as such for spelling and grammar b) I can also tear the entire story apart like an angry Cenobite, and be brutal. I will not hold back to tell you what you have done wrong or done badly, or that you need to improve on such and such.
c) I can edit gently - I am willing to give praise where praise is earned. In other words, I can edit in a 'gentle' fashion, if you rather not I act like an angry Cenobite in my editing.

Expectations:

They're not particularly necessary - I mean, I am a versatile betareader. I will read any style, any genre, and nearly any fandom you could possibly think of. However, please tell me which fandom it is that you're writing, as there are a few that I know, but not particularly familiar with. ^^

In conclusion (my, this is short!):

I'm a friendly person, with a versatile style. I balance my criticism with praise where it is earned, and I'm not brutal for the sake of being brutal. I have been writing for approximately seven years - so editing for as long, so yes. I do know what I am talking about. : 3

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
- I am an honest person - I will not praise you where you have not earned it, but likewise, I will not criticize you unnecessarily. - Showing not telling - I am able to point out where this method would work in your favor, and when it will not - Characterization/intimacy with the reader - Even in fanfiction, we expect to have some sort of connection and intimacy, as the reader. I am very good with pointing out Mary-Sues and Gary-Stus, and if a reader will be able to connect with original and canon characters. And as for canon characters, if they have been kept in character.
- Spelling - easy enough, right? I'm great with spelling, although having a spell-check does simple things up quite nicely. 8D But sometimes we find that we type the wrong word, but it's spelled correctly - so having a beta for things like that can be helpful. I find that I tend to do that a lot when I write, myself. . .*Laughs*
- I honestly will not be snarky with you - I find that being snarky with a writer when you're beta-ing is counterproductive. True, writers should have a thick skin, but nonetheless, sarcasm and snarkiness will not be present in my responses when I beta.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
- Grammar - English is not my first language, nor is it my second. It is my fourth language, and I find that I still have some trouble when it comes to grammar. I apologize. ; _;
- Even I try not to be brutal, I find that sometimes I can be a little over the top. I use hyperbole a lot, haha. ^^;
- I am a busy person, with quite a lot going on in my life - so expect that it may take some time. I am a fast reader, but I try to do my best as a beta reader, so it will turn out well!
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
- Horror - Drama - Tragedy - Humor - Romance - . . .Everything?
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
- Nothing, really. ^^
