|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
If you truly want me to beta read, then just know this: I am OCD about tiny, insignificant little details. I could care less if the story absolutely sucks and the author should be burned for horrible writing, so long as the commas, periods, and capital letters are all in the right places. I am very fond of commas. And semicolons. I'm very grammar-oriented, and if you need help with improving the plot... Ask somebody else. I'm told that my writing style is very factual (She got stabbed. It hurt. Three hours later, she died. The End.), and I'm a bit more focused on having all the facts straight then covering up any mistakes i might have made with lots of flowery sentences that half the time seem to ramble on eternally.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm very particular about fighting and magic styles, meaning I love picking a specific type of weapon, such as saber, scimitar, and kulkuri rather then just plain old sword. I have a huge vocabulary, and love to use words that are not of the norm, but more often then not I don't, simply because I can't quite remember the proper synonym. Like many, I depend on spell check, but, as mentioned before, am so OCD that if I notice the underlined word I can't keep from correcting it before doing anything else.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I tend to sometimes overlook things (only human and all that rot), but usually can be good at spotting silly mistakes like run-ons and putting a comma in the wrong place. Probably my main weakness would be that I can think putting a semicolon in a certain sentence at one point in time, then come back half an hour later and think, WHY did I put that there? I'll be the first to admit I'm lazy, and don't like to double-check my work, but being hyper critical about details and worry that I missed something will usually make me do it anyway. Before having me review a chapter, it would do you well to ask about my sugar input so far in the day. More sugar equals... well... You can guess xD
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Ari is just an honest romantic, her only requirement being that Lina Inverse is a character in it, and hopefully the main one. Ari hasn't read much fan fiction outside Slayers, and therefore can't really be expected to know what the standards are in other anime. Coupling usually does not matter, though she might be a bit critical about couplings she doesn't like, mainly ones that don't involve Lina xD
My ultimate favorite coupling would be Zelgadis/Lina fan fiction, then maybe Xellos/Lina, but I will read any that's out there.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I have certain anime that I love to watch and read about (Prime example: Inuyasha, but have never finished the anime and would not like it if the ending was spoiled). That, and people who don't bother to at least use spell or grammar check just kills me (and yet not, as I adore correcting). Also, you can probably put some suggestive material in your story... but it would pass right over my head. About that... I won't say my age, since I'm very sure that most of you aren't listening to a word I say anyway, but I am FAR TOO YOUNG to be reading a full blown lemon. Gore and bloody goodness I can handle, in fact, even expect in a fanfic, so... yeah.Lime = Okay. Lemon = NOT OKAY. :]
