Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
- tl;dr: I've edited for classmates, for friends, and for myself. I'm still getting used to Oxford commas but I like them.

- First of all, I like to know a little bit about you. Pertinent things like language, age and nationality are usually good to know.

- In addition to editing, I can help you build a story from scratch. I don't necessarily expect you to have written anything at all by the time you come to me. If you just want an opinion or some help developing an idea, I can do that. I can help you build a plot or flesh out a character. If you want visuals, I can draw things for you. Anything to contribute to the steady flow of good fan fiction.

- Typically, when one sends me a document, I expect it to have been written coherently and already revised at least once by the writer. I will go over it and make corrections and annotations. I will almost always explain why I have made the corrections I have made. My annotations are generally compliments or suggestions. At the end of the document, I will amend a paragraph or so of general feedback both summarizing my impression of the document and elaborating things that may not have been mentioned in the annotations.

- I have been speaking Spanish since I was very young. However, I never received a formal education in Spanish grammar and I'm not *exactly* fluent. Nevertheless, if you need me to, I can read stories in Spanish and I can also help you if you're not fluent in English.

- Note that the way in which I like to do my editing requires that the viewer of the edited document have at least Microsoft Word 2007 (though I will be happy to accommodate you if you don't). I have at times gone over recently completed chapters in real time over AIM and even on Skype. I really don't mind impromptu editorial sessions.

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
- One thing I am tremendously good with is wording. If a sentence is awkwardly arranged or if a paragraph can stand to be organized differently, you can bet that I will spot it and be fully equipped to suggest glorious, glittering alternatives.

- I'm probably the most obnoxious critic of Mary Sues and Gary Stus in the whole world. Your OC(s) will not find refuge in the shadows beneath the hollows and behind the trees for, like God, I see and judge all. Well, not really, but I am very good when it comes to working with characters.

- As far as Death Note goes, I'm the category supervisor for the Death Note section on WikiAnswers. I've answered over 500 questions in that category and received over 50 trust points. I've read the manga at least a dozen times. I know it like I know the alphabet. I know it like I know breathing. I know all of the rules for using the Death Note, I know everything there is to know about every character, it's a wonder I can't tell you how many hairs there are on Mello's head.

- Above all, my greatest strength is probably the way in which I dedicate myself to the story. I will love your work almost as much as you do if not exactly as much. I'm there to help and I am super effective.

My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
- When it comes to grammar, punctuation and spelling, I have always been fairly good. I grew up in a household where grammar was fun dinner conversation. Despite this, I don't always know *why* something is supposed to be written a certain way, but I will usually look it up for you when the need arises.

- I am never sure how to be sensitive with people. I will certainly try to spare your feelings if you need me to, but for the most part I tend to be very blunt and I will never keep to myself for fear of offending you. The best I can do is *try* to sugar coat it. Of course, I will never be intentionally mean.

- I am not always done with things when I say I'll be done with them. This isn't because I'm bad at time management. It's because I'm good at procrastinating. (Which should make me to wonder why this isn't in the "strengths" area)!

Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
- I don't have a clue why, but I love stories where the main character is an OC. It doesn't necessarily have to be romance (and when it is, it doesn't necessarily have to be with a canon character), though romance is my favorite.

- I will happily read fan fiction for almost any fandom with which I am familiar and in some cases, I have been known to explore an entirely new fandom *after* reading the fan fiction.

Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
- I will probably not read anything that has anything at all to do with Gossip Girl or Vampire Diaries. Probably won't do Supernatural, either. I've seen a lot of these shows and I'd probably be able to follow a fan fiction but I just don't think I could stand it.

- I almost broke my flat screen with a shoe the first time I watched 2001: A Space Odyssey. I won't want to read anything too trippy and existential unless you've got grounds to believe it is somehow exceptional.
