Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hey! Well, I've been writing fanfiction for a good five years, although a lot of what I write never makes it to sites, seeing as I am very critical of my work, and other's works. I like things to be canon, and I like them to be as close to perfect as possible. It's hard, but it's something I enjoy. I love when you find a good story, one with few mistakes; it reads so much better, more fluently. As a beta reader, I will be critical, but never rude or rough. We don't like Simon Cowells, do we? ;) Just some helpful hints. I hope to be able to do some service!
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I think I'm pretty good at canon charries. I keep them in sync at all times, and I think it's very important. Spelling, as well, is something I value, as well as a rich vocabulary. I love description too, so it's something I'm rather good at. *hugs dictionnary.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Well, I think my weaknesses in writing mostly arise from a need for perfection, and story beginnings. I have a very hard time with beginning stories, but once they get started, they tend to unroll nicely. Comedies are certainly not my strong suite, however. I can do sarcasm and irony, but straight out comedy is very confusing to me. I also sometimes have a problem with song fics, but in general I do well with them. It's rather hard to say what you're weak at, but those are my big issues. There are always little things, but that's what beta readers are FOR, right? Help.
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I don't really prefer one type over the other, for the simple reason it's unfair. All stories deserve a chance, and I see no problem in being beta reader to any of them. However, I do tend to prefer novella-length fanfictions. They're more challenging to write, and as such, as much funner to beta. It becomes a journey you go through with the writer.
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
As stated previously, I have no problem with most types of stories, however, seeing as comedies are not one of my strong suits, I'd rather not beta read any comedies. It's for your own good, people! So yes. That's about it. Other than that, I'm open to everything.
