Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello all! What's happenin', mah Homie-G's? (I promise, I'll never do that again). Apparently I'm supposed to provide some info about myself as a beta...so here we go:br /br /br /

I not only wish to help people with their grammar, but also with the style and flow of their stories. Who else knows how annoying it is when a character we all love does something completely OOC when for the rest of the story they were perfectly in character? Exactly. And that's why I'm here! To aide in the creating of a medicine for this epidemic (deep, no?). If it's a longer story, I'll have to ask you what you have in mind for the future of the story so that I can help incoporate some foreshadowing if there is none, or maybe a motif, or maybe even tell you right off the bat if there is no continuity in your story and you should go back to the drawing board. Sometimes I can be a bit abrasive, but it's not on purpose. If you give me a bop on the head (or, since this is all virtual, a stern talking to), it'll stop.br /br /br /

I specialize in Yaoi/BL/MxM that sort of thing. I'll beta other fics, but the mentioned types of stories are my preferred cup of tea.br /br /br /

If you do choose to work with me, please be at least somewhat professional about it. I like to be laid-back; I like shooting the breeze; I like goofing off. But just remember that at the end of the day, you contacted me because you wanted my advice, not my friendship (although friendship is a nice side sort of plus).

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm a critical reader. If I'm reading some sort of suspense story, I'll work on connecting the dots even as I'm reading and won't just wait passively until the writer reveals all. As a result, I can give you a heightened view of how one such reader perceives your story. For instance, if what you were trying to say discretely is actually pretty damn blatant, or a bit too vague. I'm pretty good at catching grammatical errors; I received an 800 Writing score on my SAT if that makes any sense to anyone. Any and all commentary I give will have some sort of reasonable explanation.br /br /br /

For the most part, I see my self as a strong stylistic beta reader. I'm also extremely imaginative, so if you have writer's block, I'm the person to come to for plot bunnies! Take 'em, they need homes. I hardly ever have the drive to actually write them out as full stories.

My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not perfect, and I'll probably miss something grammatically incorrect here and there. I also tend to ignore sentence fragments for the sake of style. But other than that I'm just too awesome for faults!br /

Not really. I just can't think of anything right now.

Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I'm more of a fluff lover than anything. I'll read dark fics if I'm in the mood, but for the most part I'm a sucker for lovey-dovey, mushy-gushy fics that're pure romance. I also prefer fewer, longer chapters to shorter, abundant chapters in longer stories. I really appreciate creativity when reading, and am enthralled when I see an author come out with an interesting idea.
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I'll read one-shots, but nothing under 1000 words. Maybe if it's 900 that'll fly, but for the most part no 500 word drabbles. Angst-ridden, drama-fest fics tend to irk me, though if they're done artfully I can usually make it 'til the end of 'em. I hate when I'm given the same scenario written by a different person (i.e. how in Static Shock most of the stories are about Virgil and Richie expressing their love through truth-or-dare/spin-the-bottle). Stop spewing out the same garbage, people! Shitting the same feces twice does not make that turd any more desirable.
