I beta-read as spare time and as an aspiration to help readers promote their writing skills and other aspects. I am someone who greatly loathes reading fanfics that looks as though it was abandoned by its writer and left with too many errors and mistakes, thus I am also doing myself a favor when I signed up here as a beta-reader. I read fanfictions too.
I have no course in beta-reading but I have my wide knowledge in reading and academic skills in English and grammar to be used as basis. Thus I can't assume myself to be giving 100% accurate findings, but as much as possible, I keep it as objective, informative and promotive for the writer's behalf.
I believe criticism, alongside with honesty, should be nothing but realities and facts that is meant to help enhance a writer's skills and capabilities for the better. Beta-reading is objective, meaning emotions and other outside feelings should not affect its outcome. I can be very friendly (I usually am in reality) but my principle for being objective often dictates for me when I critic, with exemptions in giving good points and praise for the writer or if I see enough effort and potential on the writer's behalf, I will not hesitate to say so. I am generous in giving positive feedbacks as much as I am free in giving scathing constructive criticisms.
a. I am more of a perfectionist and strict but that doesn't mean I'm 100% accurate. I'm also direct to the point in criticizing.
b. When I locate an error, I change it to the correct word/phrase or if the writer wishes otherwise.
I expect any documents to be submitted at least 2 weeks or so before publishing date, since I'm often not around fandom to check on any updates. Or if you're just trying my skills then submit it anytime.
No lies or flowery words. Just facts on what you can expect from me.
If you think I meet your requirements or you meet and accept my preferences, then go ahead. It's your decision.
NOTE: PLEASE BE SERIOUS IN ACCEPTING ME AS YOUR BETA-READER. I take this task seriously, so I hope you also will. I feel irksome when you accept me and then leave me hanging in mid-air after I've critic; one thing I absolutely abhor is letting my effort go to waste just because I haven't received feedback. So if you can't swallow criticism or you're too sensitive/close-minded to face it, then I'm definitely NOT your choice.
