Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Mm, where to start… Well, I can't guarantee the rate at which I'll get your stories back to you. I'm especially busy during the school year (drawbacks of humanities majors are the huge amounts of reading and writing involved, both of which are time-consuming). Either way, I'll do my best to beta in a timely manner!

Tell me if there's a specific way you want me to do things, like using color coded highlighting. Otherwise, I'll just highlight the changes I make and, if you want, message you with explanations for the changes, tips, general observations on your overall writing and possibly how to improve it, etc. Always feel free to ask me questions at any time!

I do all file transfers here on because it's the most convenient for me, but if you prefer to send your files to me some other way, let me know. Also, if you have any specific requests, like keeping an eye out for OOCness or grammar issues or giving you a reader's take on the plot development/relationships/character portrayals, tell me when you send the file or even when you first ask me to beta.

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'd say I'm pretty good with picking out bluntness (as in blandness or the lack of emotion, description, so on) in stories, though I doubt I'll always be able to change it into something more natural, something that flows better. I'm great with grammar and spelling, as well as sentence structure/flow. I also read over the piece I'm betaing at least three times, just to catch any typos I might've missed and to check the general flow of the story/chapter.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Even though I consider English my strongest subject, there are still a lot of things about grammar and the like that I don't know of or understand. In situations where I'm not quite sure how something should be written, I'll do my best to look it up or otherwise find out.

When I edit stories, I tend to change sentences around a lot. If you don't want that, just tell me and I'll refrain from doing it as often. I want to maintain your unique voice and style of writing in your stories so don't be afraid to tell me if I'm ever overstepping my boundaries as a beta.

I get distracted pretty easily, so that might make me skim over some mistakes here and there and stall me in my beta process. Also, since I go over each piece numerous times, it may take a bit longer to get your work back to you.

Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I'm the type of person who reads almost everything that comes along, unless something (extreme OOCness being only one example) turns me away from it. Angst, drama, fluff, humor... You write it, I'll read it.
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Self-harm and suicide are triggering topics for me, so I'm afraid I can't beta any stories that include either of those two subjects. I'm also a bit iffy with extremely violent scenes. I think that's pretty much all I'm not willing to read!
