|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello there, you can call me Becky! I'm a theater geek, computer nerd, and Trekkie. What's not to love? C:
If you ask me to be your beta-reader, I will commit one hundred thousand percent! Not only will I edit your story for grammar and all the other basics, but I will provide you with ideas when you get stuck and give you the occasional nudge in the right direction. Our relationship would be very open, as in I will tell you if I think an entire paragraph sucks and you will either agree or disagree with me in a formal fashion. And then we will talk about it and move on with our lives. Don't get your feelings hurt if I'm harsh, please, I'm only trying to make your story better than it is.
Oh, and I color code all my changes. Yay me C:
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have a very accurate Mary Sue radar and can help you work beyond that. I have a great sense of humor and can spot a bad joke a mile away. I'm also great with grammar, expression, style, and sentence structuring. Not to mention, I'll always have a bucket full of ideas for you to choose from if you're running low. And, I'm really great with getting things back to you neatly, promptly, and efficiently!
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Commas are my main weakness. I'm not as skilled with them as I should be.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I really, really love slash. Hit me with what you got. I love the vulgar, violent lemons just as much as I love the cute stories that rot my teeth they are so sweet. Don't be shy with me. Believe when I say I've read and seen pretty much every disgusting thing you can think of.
Not to say that I won't beta hetero, I will, I just won't be as enthusiastic and bubbling with ideas.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I'm not as fond of stories with OCs, especially when the genre is romance. Unfortunately, this often turns into writers transforming themselves into that OC that gets doted upon by a suddenly out of character canon. Feel free to prove me wrong, though.
