|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
In general now and even before I read books, fanfictions, and other stories, I have been quite strict on grammar, spelling, punctuation and such. However, if a story is good enough, I can read it despite this.
I mainly focus on the above, using correct punctuation where needed, editing the simplest of things to maybe helping sentences make sense as I switch words around, and possibly suggesting better vocabulary that would suit the story and the situation.
I will also be focusing on spelling, and please ask me if you would prefer American English spelling, or United Kingdom English spelling. (There are minor differences). I myself prefer to use American English, but I am fine with either.
I'm going to be judging your storyline as well, checking if it makes sense and doesn't sound like a bunch of nonsense coming out of nowhere. I will suggest things here and there that may improve your storyline, making it more interesting and getting better reactions from the readers.
As for the whole thing story-wise, I do not mind any kind of story love wise. I understand to create certain reactions and situations the author may decide to use rape, gore, or other disturbing topics. I am fine betareading stories despite this.
I am also fine with betareading stories that contain complications and possibly taboo issues such as incest.
Expections. Well I guess I can say the only expectations I would have of the author is to stay in regular contact with me, to clearly say what they want, and allow me to make suggestions. I would prefer them to have some regular way to contact me such as instant messaging, or email.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths, hmm? Well, I'm not entirely sure what to put here.
I guess my strengths would be that I do look very carefully at spelling, and have a wide range of vocabulary. I also pay alot of attention to punctuation in stories, and make sure the sentences and situations give off the desired effect as well as making sense.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Puncuation wise, I find working with semicolons difficult, but that does not mean I don't know how to fully use them.
Grammar wise, I use American English, which in England people generally don't use. (People who live in the United Kingdom like myself, will probably understand the meaning here).
In my own writing I tend to use long complicated sentences, however I'm working on this, and it is not a major issue, as it is not like I don't know how to use sentences correctly.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I would probably prefer to betaread stories from anime I have already watched, (Which is over 200+ by the way), but I think a challenge and a chance to betaread something I have not watched before, could be exciting.
I think I'd most likely prefer to betaread yuri, (including shoujo-ai), and yaoi, (including shounen-ai), stories - over heterosexual ones. However, that doesn't mean I rule this option out, it just means I'll be less tempted to betaread those particular stories, unless it's a particular couple I already like or am tempted to know more about.
Pairing wise, these are the pairings I particularly like, and the anime they are from, and will be eager to betaread:
Yami x Yugi (Calling Yami by the name Atemu is fine, as is if you wish to include Atemu as a separate character, etc). - Yu-Gi-Oh!
Dark x Daisuke - D.N Angel
Taichi x Yamato (Called Tai and Matt in the american/english version.) - Digimon (Season 1 & 2)
Tooru x Yuujirou - Princess Princess
Shuichi x Yuki - Gravitation
Ciel x Sebastian - Kuroshitsuji
And some others.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Well to start with, I will most likely not betaread stories which have Yugi or Yami in a pairing other than Yami x Yugi. (Especially Yami x Anzu or Yugi x Anzu).
I also will not betaread stories that include beastiality, but having somewhat anthro characters is fine. ( Humans with cat ears and cat tails, that sort of thing. )
