|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello, I'm Kittenly, and you're here because you may want someone to look over your fiction and help you get it ready for publishing. I love to read, and am an avid writer myself. I take my critique seriously and aim to be thorough, but I try to make sure my feedback is sincere and encouraging. I'm willing to cheer for you in addition to providing editorial services. All I need is a clear idea of expectations from when we start-whether you just need an editor to make sure everything works on a mechanical level or you want someone to bounce ideas off and spend time with working out the specifics of your story.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Comprehensive, plot based stories are my real strength, particularly if their are fantasy/sci fi/horror genre. I'm good at planning and helping other people develop a plan, something I think is necessary for longer pieces. Chapter by chapter, I have a very good grasp of grammar and flow. In fandoms I'm familiar in, I have an excellent grasp of character voice. For anyone working with OCs, I'm comfortable working with OCs and developing compelling original characters. Most of my fandoms these days are Bioware or Bethesda RPGs, and those fandoms are OC centric.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Currently, that I'm busy and my attention is everywhere.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I prefer to beta longer, plot driven pieces-particularly ones that fall into the sci-fi, fantasy, or horror genres. This doesn't mean if you have an awesome idea in any genre I won't hear you out though. Totally down with working with OCs in addition to canon characters.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Nothing too grimdark. You can torture your characters as much as you want, but the world and people in it can't be irredeemable. I like my endings to sort of stay between "Earn your Happy Ending" and "Bittersweet Endings," though tragedy can be acceptable too. I like a little optimism, but that doesn't mean characters have to actually /live/ to see that optimism.
