|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm here for your services, but I'm still learning. If you choose me as a beta-reader, please understand that I may not catch everything that needs to be fixed. I read through the pieces given to me at least five times, make notes, then read through it again before presenting my findings to you. Just remember that I'm a human, not a machine.
I place myself on a time-limit when beta-reading, which in all honestly is probably not good for my health, but that's okay! Who needs sleep when you can read, right? Once I accept a request, I try to have feedback prepared within three days. Depending on how long your given piece is, that three days may be extended to a week, but no later than that.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
When I was younger, I found an odd pleasure in reading the dictionary. It amazed me how one word could be spelled different ways. So, I'm always looking for spelling errors in my own work and the work of others.
This was drilled into my head during my school years. Luckily, it was stuck with me even after all these years. What, three years? Yeesh. I analyze punctuation almost as much as I do spelling. If something doesn't seem right, I'll pick up on it and let you know.
I love me some good twists. If you're having trouble coming up with one, I'm more than confident I can throw a couple ideas your way.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I struggle with this in a sense that most of my own original characters eventually end up speaking and acting like one another. I have trouble creating characters of my own, so please don't rely on me to think of new ones for your stories.
I never know when to quit. That applies to stories as well. Just when I think I have a good ending for a story, my mind decides to think of more things that can happen. This is why I have sequels for my biggest projects.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Just about all I write these days. I love fluff, as long as the characters stay in character. I also enjoy reading about heartbreak. Call it sick, but it inspires me to write more.
I'm a "let's stay home on a Friday night and watch horror movies" kind of gal, so reading them is just a whole new roller-coaster of excitement for me.
More often than not, I will choose the biggest book I can find over a book that contains only 100 or so pages. I love having more of a chance to connect with the characters and the places in stories. Please be warned though, as I've stated above, lengthy works will take more time.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
SEXUAL SMUTTY SMUT
This makes me uncomfortable, which is why I don't write it. During my years of writing fanfiction, I've picked up on some ways to hint that some naughty things have happened without actually going into that subject. Please warn me if you plan on describing your characters bumping uglies before I begin to read your work. I will still read it. Just know that I will most likely be cringing during the act.
Okay, I understand I said I like horror flicks and books, but torture is a different story. If your characters are tying someone down and inflicting pain on someone else, I will not read it. My apologies, but it makes me even more uncomfortable than sexual things.
I have brothers and sisters, so absolutely not.
